Wiper blades in service position

The wiper blades must be in service position if you want to change, clean or lift them, e.g. for scraping off ice from the windscreen.

How to activate/deactivate service position

When the car is stationary and the windscreen wipers are not switched on, you can activate/deactivate service position via the function view in the following way:

16w06 - Support site - Wipers symbol

Activate/deactivate service position by tapping on the Wiper Service Position button. The light indicator in the button illuminates when service position is activated and the wipers are then set in service position. The light indicator extinguishes when you deactivate service position.

The wiper blades also leave service position if:

  • Windscreen wiping is activated
  • Windscreen washing is activated
  • The rain sensor is activated
  • The car is driven away

 Note

Make sure that the wiper blades are not frozen down before they are set in service position.

If the wiper arms in service position have been folded up from the windscreen, they must be folded back down onto the windscreen before the activation of wiping, washing or the rain sensor, as well as before driving. This is to avoid scraping the paint on the bonnet.
