Climate settings at low temperatures
In low outside temperatures, the internal combustion engine sometimes starts automatically in order to achieve the desired passenger compartment temperature and air quality. Lowering the temperature, reducing fan strength or activating the Pure drive mode can affect the duration of the internal combustion engine's running time.
Electrical operation in low or high temperatures
In low or high outside temperatures, the car's range and output for electric operation may be reduced and affect how often the internal combustion engine is started automatically.
To ensure that the emission control works as well as possible, the internal combustion engine must run for several minutes once it has been started. The duration of the internal combustion engine's running time varies depending on the temperature of the catalytic converter.
