    • Reinforced passenger compartment
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Wherever you go in your Volvo, you and your passengers are surrounded by a strong protective steel cage. And that it’s reinforced with one of the strongest steel types available – hot formed boron steel. In a collision, the front and rear crumple zones help to dissipate the energy of the crash to reduce the impact on those inside the car, while in a side-on impact, our SIPS™ side impact protection system distributes the crash force across a large portion of the car’s body to further reduce your risk of injury. And to further help protect passengers, there is a steel cross-member under the dashboard.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Inflatable Curtain
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 In a frontal offset or side-on collision, the Inflatable Curtain helps protect the heads of both front and rear passengers who are sitting on the sides. It also stays inflated for several seconds to provide prolonged protection in the event of secondary impacts. And in Volvos equipped with integrated booster seats, the Inflatable Curtain has been extended downward to improve head protection for smaller or younger children.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Energy-absorbing frontal structure
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 The unique geometry of the frontal structure and longitudinal steel struts in the doors help disperse crash energy away from the front to the rear of the car, reducing impact effects on driver and passengers. And further adding to your protection, the compact, transversely mounted engine installation allows maximum space for deformation and energy dispersion.

    • Safety belts with pretensioners and load limiters
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Safety belts are the first line of defence when it comes to help protecting people during a crash. That’s why we introduced them in 1959. We also invented the audible and visual safety belt reminder and today, everybody in the car is reminded to fasten their safety belts before moving off. And in the information display on the instrument panel, you can check that the rear seat passengers have all fastened their safety belts and that nobody unfastens them during the trip. Pretensioners activate to tighten the belts within fractions of a second in the event of a collision. The front seat safety belts then release a little so that the driver and passenger are cushioned by the airbags in a controlled fashion.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Pre-prepared restraints
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Your Volvo can sense an impending collision and prepare the car's restraint systems to help provide optimal protection. Using advanced sensors, the car scans the road ahead and if the system spots an obstacle that could result in a collision, it prepares the airbags and safety belts for the expected crash force. This together with a robust body structure gives the best protection in a low or medium-severe frontal collision.

    • City Safety
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Adding to a relaxed driving experience in for example slow-moving city traffic, our standard-fitted City Safety technology looks out for standstill or slower vehicles ahead and brakes automatically if needed to help you avoid or mitigate a collision. This laser-based technology can sense an impending collision at speeds from 4 km/h up to 50km/h, day and night. In the first instance, City Safety prepares the brakes so that they respond faster when you press the pedal. And if you fail to brake, City Safety will apply the brakes for you and switch off the throttle to lessen the effects of a collision. Even better, if the difference in speed between your car and the one in front is less than 15km/h, City Safety can prevent a collision from happening in the first place. City Safety is activated as soon as you start your car, and ready to assist you in such an eventuality. City Safety is just one element of our complete approach to car safety. We call it IntelliSafe, and it’s a programme targeted at fulfilling our aim to create cars that will help you avoid collisions altogether – it includes such features as Lane Keeping Aid, Collision Warning with full auto brake, BLIS™, Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist and much more.

    • Anti-locking brakes with Hydraulic Brake Assist and Ready Alert Brakes
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 In an emergency situation, the large anti-lock ventilated disc brakes of your Volvo will make all the difference. And if you find yourself travelling down a mountain road with the need to brake often and hard, you’ll welcome our brakes’ resistance to fading. But since there is always a risk of fade, your Volvo is prepared for this, too, with Fading Brake Support. This system gradually builds hydraulic brake pressure so that you always have reassuring pedal feel. But what if you find yourself having to brake in an emergency, and perhaps not applying the necessary pressure to the pedal? Well, we’ve developed Hydraulic Brake Assist, which ensures that maximum braking pressure is applied hydraulically during a panic stop. Likewise, if you suddenly lift off the accelerator or sensors detect an obstacle in front of the car, Ready Alert Brakes instantly move the brake pads closer to the brake discs to reduce the braking distance. And Electronic Brake Distribution ensures that the right amount of braking goes to the front and rear of the your Volvo depending on where the load in the car is distributed and what the road conditions are.

    • Electronic Stability Control
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 One of the most vital safety advances of the past decade, Electronic Stability Control helps minimize the risk of wheel spin and skids at all speeds in all conditions. And helping to minimize understeer at all speeds, it also contributes to safer and more fun cornering characteristics. The system looks at factors like what direction the car is travelling, how fast the wheels are rotating and how much steering lock is applied. Using all this information, Electronic Stability Control can detect a potential skid and take action to prevent it by reducing engine power and/or braking the appropriate wheels. It can also prevent the wheels from locking during engine braking or when changing to a lower gear in slippery conditions, using Engine Drag Control. To further reduce the risk of losing traction in emergency manoeuvres and corner with high lateral forces, the function Advanced Stability Control senses the car's roll movement and lateral acceleration. But Automatic Stability Control is also about giving you a rewarding driving experience, too, so when you’re cornering enthusiastically the car will feel even more dynamically stable. Another feature that means you’ll experience sharper turn-in to corners, less understeer, more powerful acceleration and more fun behind the wheel is our Corner Traction Control with torque vectoring. It works by braking the inside driven wheel if it starts to lose its grip through a corner, while sending the power to the outer wheel instead. Our new Understeer Control Logic is another innovative technology that further helps minimise understeer tendencies for more stable and dynamic cornering. And if you’re in the mood for a bit of performance driving, Electronic Stability Control has a Sport Mode. It cuts out the engine power reducing function and allows a controlled amount of rear wheel slip, as long as it senses that the driver is using the steering wheel and accelerator in a dynamic way and as long as it doesn’t go too far, in which case it will return to the normal Electronic Stability Control-function.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Emergency Brake light
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Our Emergency Brake Light helps alert vehicles approaching from behind if you are forced to panic brake. It works above 50km/h and knows the difference between normal and panic braking. If it is a panic stop, the brake lights will flash at a rate of four times per second, which will telegraph a clear message to following traffic that there’s a potential problem ahead. Once you slow to below 10km/h, the brake lights stop pulsing and your hazard lights take over.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Roll-Over Protection System
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 To help protect passengers in a rollover situation, Our Roll-Over Protection System is activated by a sensor that monitors the vehicle’s lean angle. In the event of a rollover the safety belt pre-tensioners are activated for every seat to help keep passengers more securely in place. At the same time, the Inflatable Curtain deploys to help protect against secondary impacts.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • SIPS™ side impact protection system
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 We developed our unique SIPS™ side impact protection system to help protect where you and your passengers are most exposed in the event of a side-collision. The steel framework of the car – including the front seat frames – is designed and reinforced to help displace the impact of a side-collision away from the occupants to other parts of the car body and help prevent intrusion into the cabin. The extremely strong side structure contains ultra-high strength steel and softer grades of steel to help withstand a severe side impact – even with a larger vehicle. The Inflatable Curtain for all the outboard occupants and the front seat side airbags interact with the SIPS™ to help provide further protection. In the rear, SIPS™ and the Inflatable Curtain help protect the passengers in the outer rear seats including the third row.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Collapsible steering column
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 The steering column is an advanced part of the safety system, with the upper and lower sections giving way in a controlled manner in a frontal impact to help protect the driver.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Restraint technologies
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 In a collision, our restraint technologies interact to help reduce the impact. The safety belts with pre-tensioners activate within fractions of a second in the event of a collision or rollover and tighten the belt to help keep the occupants restrained. The front seat safety belts then release a little so that the driver and passenger are cushioned by the airbags in a controlled manner. Helping to optimise protection, the dual-stage airbags adapt the level of inflation depending on the force of the collision. The driver’s airbag also interacts with the deformation of the collapsible steering column. Side airbags in the front seats help reduce the risk of serious injuries in a side collision. In a collision or rollover, the Inflatable Curtain helps protect the heads of both front and rear outboard occupants. It also stays inflated for several seconds to provide prolonged protection for subsequent impacts.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Side airbags
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 In a side-collision, the side airbags inflate instantly to help protect the chest and hip. The side airbags are located in the ideal spot on the front seatback.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Dual-stage airbags, driver and front passenger
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 In a frontal collision, the driver and passenger airbags help protect your head, face and chest. But because no two collisions are the same, the airbags adapt the level of inflation depending on the force of the impact. The driver’s airbag also interacts with the deformation of the collapsible steering column. And if the impact is low enough that the airbags aren’t needed, the system will just deploy safety belt pre-tensioners if necessary.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Head restraints
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 The head restraints of your Volvo help offer outstanding protection regardless of a person’s height, whether they are seated in the front or the rear. And the rear middle head restraint can be fully retracted into the backrest to improve the driver’s rearward visibility. It’s designed to obstruct taller passengers from sitting down without raising the restraint to its upright position. The outer head restraints can fold forward at the press of a button (optional) to further improve rear vision. In the folded position, they too are designed to obstruct passengers from sitting down without raising the restraints to their upright position.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • WHIPS™ whiplash injury protection system
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Our advanced WHIPS™ whiplash injury protection system incorporates the complete backrests and head restraints to help protect the driver and front seat passenger from whiplash injury if the car is hit from behind. During a rear impact, the WHIPS™ system moves the entire seatback with the passenger or driver while the head restraint remains rigid to support the neck. A unique Volvo design.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Anti-submarining protection
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 To help prevent that passengers slide under and out of their safety belts in the event of a big impact, the seats feature anti-submarining guards which are specially shaped panels angled upwards at the forward edge inside the seats.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Energy-absorbing interior
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 All the panels and door sides are padded with energy-absorbing materials to help reduce the risk of injury to the car’s passengers.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Warning triangle
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 This lightweight wide-angle reflector stands upright to alert other road users even in strong winds and on slippery surfaces. It folds easily and stores in its own case.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • First-aid kit
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 The first-aid kit is conveniently carried in the load compartment and contains a variety of bandages. The contents are stored in different compartments to make it easier to find what you need in an emergency.

IntelliSafe Surround includes IntelliSafe Standard plus the following

    • Driver Alert Control
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Driver Alert Control is a nice and thoughtful way to alert you if your driving behaviour shows signs of distraction or tiredness. Active at speeds over 65km/h, a camera looks at the road ahead while Driver Alert Control checks on your steering inputs to see how they compare to your regular driving style. If it senses that you’re driving more erratically, or there are signs that you’re drowsy or distracted, it’ll give you an audible warning and a message on the instrument panel suggesting you take a break.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Road Sign Information
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 With Road Sign Information you don't have to miss important road signs. A forward camera detects speed limit, "no overtaking", "no entry" and various types of supplementary signs. The actual sign is then displayed on the centre dial on the driver display – to help keep you constantly alert on current restrictions. If you want, Road Sign Information can also alert you with a visual warning if you exceed the speed limit, by flashing gently three times. This is easily set in the centre console menu.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • BLIS™ blind spot information system and Cross Traffic Alert
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 BLIS™ is a Volvo innovation that helps alert you if a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches fast from behind. The rear-mounted radar sensors cover a large area behind the car and work in various sorts of weather and light conditions, day or night. As a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches rapidly from behind, this function can alert you via a warning light in the front door posts – left and right. Together with the door mirrors, which include a wide-angle mirror on the driver side, this helps you assess the feasibility of a lane change. BLIS™ is activated once the car exceeds 12 km/h and reacts to almost any type of vehicle, including motorcycles. Reversing out of a parking space or anywhere else with restricted vision at the sides can be a tricky business. To make these manoeuvres easier and less stressful our Cross Traffic Alert uses the rear radar sensors to alert you of crossing traffic from the sides. You'll be alerted by an audible warning from the left or right rear loudspeaker and by a graphic warning in the centre display. Alerting for approaching vehicles as well as for pedestrians and cyclists, Cross Traffic Alert is especially helpful in tight and crowded areas where the side view might be limited.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Lane Keeping Aid
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 If you should begin to veer off-course, our Lane Keeping Aid technology can alert you or, if necessary, intervene with gentle steering support to help you stay in the lane. This function uses an advanced high resolution camera to register the lane markings and help monitor the car’s position on the road. If you get close to a lane marking, the system will gently steer the car back to help keep the car in the lane. And should you nevertheless unintentionally cross the lane marking you'll be alerted by haptic vibrations in the steering wheel or a warning sound. When you intentionally cross a lane marker using the turn indicators, Lane Keeping Aid is not activated. The system operates at speeds between 65 km/h and 200 km/h.

IntelliSafe Pro includes IntelliSafe Standard, IntelliSafe Surround plus the following

    • Adaptive Cruise Control with Queue Assist
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Helping you to maintain your preset gap to vehicles in front at all speeds up to 200 km/h, the Adaptive Cruise Control is a supportive partner for a more relaxed driving experience on any journey. In slow moving city traffic, the Adaptive Cruise Control stop and go function* with ECO mode automatically adapts your speed to the vehicle in front while helping you save fuel by maintaining smoother progress with less need for surges of acceleration. From standstill, a press of a button or the accelerator is all it takes to make your car smoothly tail the vehicle in front. At speeds over 30 km/h, just select the desired speed and the minimum time gap to the vehicle in front. When the radar sensor detects a slower vehicle in front, the speed automatically adapts to that vehicle. And when the road is clear, the car resumes the selected speed. If Adaptive Cruise Control is disengaged and a vehicle in front comes too close, the distance alert function activates a warning light in the lower section of the windscreen to help you keep a proper distance. Whenever you want, you can also select conventional cruise control by pressing the Adaptive Cruise Control button for a few seconds. *The Queue Assist and stop and go function from 0 to 30 km/h requires Geartronic™ automatic transmission.

    Preventive safety

    • Active Bending Lights with Dual Xenon Technology
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Journeys after dark have become a lot more enjoyable – and safer – thanks to our Active High Beam, available as an option. With this system, you don’t need to keep flicking between dipped and full beam, which is not only annoying – according to several studies, it’s also a major cause of night-time accidents. Employing camera technology, AHB recognises the headlight beam of on-coming vehicles and automatically shifts between high and low beam to optimise your vision without dazzling other drivers. And because the system is intelligent, the high beam shuts off when you enter a city, but if you drive past an illuminated sign – say a filling station or supermarket – it stays on so you can see what’s coming up. This means you benefit from safety as well as convenience.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake and Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Statistics show that in half of all rear-end collisions the driver at fault doesn’t brake at all. Active at speeds above 4 km/h, our collision avoidance technology can give you audible and visible warnings if you’re too close to a vehicle in front or if there are pedestrians or cyclists in your path. If you don’t react and a collision is imminent, full auto-braking is engaged to help you avoid or mitigate an impact. Within a range of 150 metres, a radar sensor behind the grille continuously monitors the distance to the vehicle driving in front of you and a digital camera behind the windscreen determines what objects are in front of you. During daylight it can also detect standing or moving pedestrians or cyclists. If a pedestrian or a cyclist unexpectedly swerves out in front of your car or if a vehicle suddenly brakes (or is stationary) and Collision Warning senses that a collision is likely to happen, it will prompt you to act with a flashing warning light on the windscreen along with an audible alarm. Moreover, this technology supports driver-initiated braking by pre-charging the brakes to reduce the braking distance. If you don’t react to the warning and a collision is imminent, the car immediately brakes with full braking force.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 It can happen so easily; you’re on a long motorway trip, or momentarily distracted and you wander briefly out of your lane. This puts you in danger of collision, or of simply going off the road on your own. It doesn’t bear thinking about, but your Volvo can help with the Lane Departure Warning system. When you’re driving over 65km/h, a camera looks at the lane markings and can tell if you wander out of your lane. If you do, it will give you an audible warning but if you use indicators to signal a lane change, LDW will stay silent.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 With our Tyre Pressure Monitoring System you'll be instantly alerted if one of your tyres is low on pressure. Active at 30 km/h or more, it helps increase your safety as well as ensuring maintained comfort and handling characteristics. The system uses sensors mounted in each tyre valve.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Cornering Light
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 At speeds of up to 30 km/h, the optional Cornering Light illuminates the area in which you’re turning at up to 15 degrees around the car for safer manoeuvring – for instance if you’re turning into a small road or driving through a narrow gateway at night.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Inner and outer rear view mirrors with Auto Dim
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 One of the most annoying things about night driving is the blinding glare from other cars’ headlights. Our generously dimensioned door mirrors are made of chromatic glass that automatically dims to diminish glare from traffic behind you. The mirrors use an internal sensor to monitor light conditions and recognise glare from headlights. When this is detected, the inner and outer rear view mirrors will darken simultaneously to the exact degree necessary. Once the source of the glare disappears, the glass returns to its normal state automatically. Other functions include an optional built-in compass in the inner rear view mirror and ground lighting as well as indicators embedded in the sides of the outer mirrors.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Active Bending Lights with Dual Xenon Technology
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 You know when you’re driving down a winding country road at night and the headlights don’t quite show you everything coming up around the next bend? We wondered, what if your headlights could swivel like eyes, so your car could help you see around corners? So we developed Active Bending Lights – with motorised lamps that can turn up to 15 degrees in either direction – that follow the way you steer. And by using extra bright Dual Xenon lights (low beam and high beam), you get a 90 per cent boost to your vision round bends at night. This means you can gain a further 45 metres for braking. You can also experience highly effective low-beam illumination on narrow, winding roads and extremely powerful high beams on the motorway – a sensor disengages the adaptive function during daylight to reduce wear. It’s a very clever system, too – depending on the load in the car, the headlights self-adjust to maintain the correct angle to the road, even during hard acceleration or braking.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Side-marker lamps
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Integrated front and rear side-marker lamps help alert other drivers to your car’s presence.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Water-repellent front side windows
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 To provide far better visibility in the rain, your Volvo’s front side windows help repel water as you drive. The hydrophobic surface treatment turns water into small drops that will be blown away by the force of the wind. This also gives you the benefit of less ice or frost in winter conditions. This option is offered in combination with laminated windows.

    • Private Locking
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Private Locking is a function that allows you to keep the luggage and glove compartment locked even when you lend out your remote control or your Personal Car Communicator to, for example, a valet parking attendant. To activate Private Locking, a miniature key incorporated within the Personal Car Communicator is used to lock the glove compartment. This stops both compartments from being unlocked with the remote control or the Personal Car Communicator, but allows the central locking system and ignition to be used as normal.

    • Global locking and closing
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 This function allows you to close all windows and lock the car all at once by pressing the button on the remote control or the Personal Car Communicator for two seconds. Alternatively, press the button for two seconds to unlock the car and open all the windows.

    • Immobiliser and theft-protected locks
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Not only will the door locks withstand most break-in attempts, the electronic immobiliser makes it impossible to start the car without the right remote control. And even if a would-be thief manages to get into the car via a window, the deadlock system makes it impossible to open the doors from the inside.

    • Personal Car Communicator with Keyless drive
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 PCC is an advanced remote control that combines ‘keyless drive’ with two-way communication with your Volvo. Keep the PCC with you and the car unlocks automatically as you pull the door handle. Start the engine by pressing a button on the dash, and when you park, lock your car by pressing a button in the door handle. Later in the day, if you’re wondering whether you’ve locked your car, the PCC can tell you by displaying the status that the car was last left in, wherever you are in the world. When you are approaching your car (within a distance of approximately 100 m), the PCC can give you a warning if the car’s alarm has been activated, and an extra visible warning if it’s been activated within the last five minutes. Keep the car key in your pocket or handbag. Using keyless drive technology you can unlock the doors and drive away without using the car key. To start the engine, just turn the starter control in the instrument panel.

    • Volvo On Call
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 We created the Volvo On Call smartphone app to make your everyday life a little less complicated. This app gives you a host of clever solutions that allow you to access and control your Volvo remotely from your smartphone, iPad or a wearable device such as Apple Watch, Android Wear and Microsoft Band 2. The Volvo On Call app can also be used on a Windows 10 based PC or tablet. It's even compatible with Flic buttons that allow you to connect single tasks, like pre-heating your car, to separate wireless buttons you can keep anywhere you want. Whenever you want, you can check the remaining distance to empty tank, the fuel level, average fuel consumption, the outdoor temperature at your car, if the doors are locked and much more. And if you've left the car unlocked, you will be reminded and can lock it (or unlock it) remotely just using your smartphone. You can conveniently create your own driving journals and download data to Excel. You can also see your car's location on a map and make it honk and flash if you need to locate it in a huge parking lot. Further facilitating your travel planning, you can even send a destination directly to the Sensus Navigation system in your car. It can also connect with your personal calendar and allow you to send meeting appointment destinations to the navigation system for guidance. Another everyday luxury you will enjoy with Volvo On Call, is the possibility to control the climate in your car using your smartphone. To warm up or cool down the cabin before travelling, you can remotely start the engine and control the climate system. And if your car is equipped with a parking heater, you can start the heater remotely via your smartphone for a comfortable climate without using the engine. Volvo On Call also enables you to create a strong, stable internet connection via the roof antenna. You simply turn your Volvo into a Wi-Fi hotspot – anybody that shares your ride can easily connect his or her smartphone, laptop or tablet to the internet. And whether you've got a flat tire, have a breakdown or get into an accident, Volvo On Call is there to send assistance anywhere. Push the Volvo On Call button in your car (or use your smartphone app) to speak to an operator who can dispatch assistance to your GPS location. Or in an emergency that calls for help right away, simply press the SOS button. In an accident that activates the car's airbags or safety belt pre-tensioners or if you have run into a large animal, your Volvo alerts a trained operator to contact the car and send emergency service. Volvo On Call can also alert you to an attempted break-in. And if the car is stolen, the Volvo On Call operator can use the GPS in your Volvo to track it.

    • Heated seats, front
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Because we Scandinavians understand cold weather better than most, few cars are better equipped to deal with freezing temperatures than your Volvo. In fact, thanks to our heating systems, you may now positively look forward to your drive when the mercury drops. Take our heated front seats with heating in the seat cushions including the lower backrest – since they work particularly quickly, your car will be just as comfortable as your living room in no time at all, with individual three levels touch controls for the driver and front seat passenger. • Sport seats
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 We designed the sport seats in your Volvo to give you a great driving experience and allow you to arrive feeling fresh, even after hours of driving. In fact, our seats are widely accepted as some of the finest in the car world. They have features like stepless lumbar support in the front seats, which allows for the tiniest degrees of adjustment for the best support for each individual. • Ambient Light
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Good lighting is the key to creating the right atmosphere. This is as true in your car as it is in your home. Our optional Ambient Light package illuminates any features you might need to find at night. A sophisticated white glow ensures you’ll never have to fumble in the dark for cupholders or root around blindly in the door pockets. “The overall effect is very warm and cosy, like being in a warm Swedish house on a cold night,” say our designers. The colour theme corresponds beautifully with the backlit white controls in the dash and elsewhere in the car. Even the optional compass in your rear view mirror lights up in the same elegant white tone.

    • Fully adjustable front seats
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 There’s no such thing as a standard-sized Volvo owner. That’s why we’ve taken such care to design seats that can be manually adjusted to fit a huge range of physiques. You can, for example, change the height and the angle of the seat cushion to suit you perfectly and give full under-thigh support, whatever your shape or size. This great adjustability is also optionally available for the passenger seat. To make sure the small of your back is comfortably supported, the lumbar support can be adjusted on each front seat. And the seats slide back and forth over such a large range that even the tallest or shortest drivers will find their perfect driving position.

    • Electrically powered driver seat with remote memory
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 The memory function of the power operated driver seat and door mirrors helps ensure your Volvo is perfectly adjusted to your personal preferences every time you enter the car. Every time you use your remote control for the central locking, the driver seat and door mirrors will automatically adjust to your preferences (you get two remote controls with your Volvo and can order up to four more). Each remote control triggers the corresponding setting from the last time that particular remote control was used. Furthermore, you can save up to three different seat and door mirror settings by using the buttons on the seat. And an electrically adjustable passenger seat is also optionally available.

    Climate

    • CleanZone automatic function
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 To prepare a fresh environment in your new Volvo even on a warm day, the automatic CleanZone function initiates a ventilation cycle, which is triggered when you unlock the car with your remote control. This feature is active on days when it is at least 10°C outside. The automatic CleanZone function also does a great job of venting out allergy and asthma inducing substances, especially gases and smells from new materials in your new car. This automatic function is gradually reduced during the first years of usage to finally be terminated.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Interior Air Quality System
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Our IAQS technology continuously monitors incoming air and will, if necessary, temporarily close external air vents to shut out carbon monoxide, ground-level ozone and nitrogen dioxide. When the air vents are opened, an active carbon filter protects the passengers from other harmful gases and unpleasant odours. This helps to ensure that the air you breathe in the car is clean, often cleaner than that outside when driving in heavy city traffic and tunnels.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Electronic Climate Control
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Electronic Climate Control (ECC) maintains the cabin temperature you choose and can be set independently for the driver and front passenger. Further contributing to your health and comfort, the system’s humidity sensor helps ensure cabin air has an appropriate level of humidity in relation to the outside climate.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Adjustable rear air vents
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Air vents that are conveniently located in the door pillars at face level create a comfortable environment for rear seat passengers. They also keep ice and mist off the rear side windows, which makes for a safer journey.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Cabin filter
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Preventing dust and pollen from entering the cabin via the ventilation system, the cabin filter is a real benefit to driver and passengers, especially those prone to hay fever or other allergies.

        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Heat-reducing windscreen
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 For a more comfortable interior climate, this windscreen reduces heat radiation from the sun through the windscreen and the temperature inside the car by filtering out the sun’s heat-generating invisible infrared rays.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Power Glass Tilt & Slide Sunroof
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 We designed this exclusive fixed panoramic glass roof to give you and your passengers a superb experience of air and light inside your Volvo. To maintain climate comfort even on the sunniest days, the tinted glass reduces infrared (IR) radiation. And if there's too much light and sunshine, just close the sliding curtain with the press of a button. It opens from the rear so your rear seat passengers can enjoy the ambience of light while you and the front passenger are still shaded. Dark tinted laminated glass further increases climate comfort and security. It also helps protect from UV radiation.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Electrically powered glass sunroof
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 This electrically powered glass sunroof adds a further dimension of airiness and light to the interior. And if the sun is in your eyes, just pull out the integrated sunblind. The sunroof can be opened or closed at the touch of a button in the roof console. It can also be opened or closed together with the side windows using the central locking remote control, the Personal Car Communicator or the lock button inside the car.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Fuel-operated parking heater
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 A fuel-operated parking heater makes your car easier to start, warms up the cabin and helps reduce the environmental impact – a cold engine produces far more harmful emissions than a warm one, and will increase engine wear. You can start the heater directly via the centre display, or set the time you’d like to enter your warm and defrosted car. With a remote starter you can activate the heater without going out to the car. And if your car is equipped with Volvo On Call, you can start the heater using your smartphone to pre-heat your engine or warm up the cabin, without starting the engine.

    • Headlamp Cleaning System
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Clean headlights are a prerequisite for excellent vision and a relaxed driving experience in the dark. Our headlight cleaning uses high-pressure jets with nozzles hidden under body-coloured covers in the bumper. When activated, the nozzles pop out of the bumpers and clean the headlamps from dirt. To save washer fluid in dirty conditions, the headlamps are washed automatically at every fifth windscreen wash cycle when the windscreen washer is used more than once every ten minutes.

Using a digital camera discretely located under the tailgate handle, it shows a wide view behind your car on the centre display. On-screen guiding lines provide extra assistance for smooth parking. You can also switch the camera to a zoomed-in view close to the car – very convenient when hitching a trailer, for example.

    • Driver display, digital
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 What kind of driver are you? The answer can change from day to day. Sometimes you want an active driving experience, at others you just want to cruise. The Adaptive Digital Display instrument option offers three set-ups – Elegance, Eco and Performance. They allow you to change the way you receive information according to your mood and driving style. Elegance with it’s brown colour theme is the default mode, showing current and average speed, current and average fuel consumption, distance to empty tank, time and outdoor temperature. It also shows engine temperature and revs, and keeps you informed about your Adaptive Cruise Control status. Another feature, Road Sign Information, displays a small symbol showing the current speed limit and overtaking rules. In a really smart move, your satnav directions pop up in the middle of the display so you don’t have to move your eyes between two screens. The Eco mode has a green colour theme and is all about encouraging and rewarding a fuel-efficient driving style. Of course, you still get the benefit of satnav directions and Road Sign Information. The Performance mode is in a striking red, and gives you a large rev counter with your speed in a digital readout in the centre. On the right, a power meter shows how much engine power is available, which is a useful tool for overtaking. You can also opt for the standard Analogue Instrument Cluster with a single large dial and two complementary instruments on either side.

      • feature_Categories_item_image2 The intuitive centre display allows you to explore conveniently the hi-tech features of your Volvo and personalise them to suit your needs. All information is displayed in a high-resolution 5-inch or 7-inch colour screen. A push of the MY CAR button in the centre console gives you access to all system settings like City Safety, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake and Pedestrian Detection, Driver Alert Control, Lane Keeping Aid, BLIS™, Road Sign Information (RSI), lights, door mirrors, climate, central locking, audio and phone. The multimedia audio systems with 7-inch screen will also display the Sensus Navigation system, park assist camera, DVD, digital TV etc. Everything is conveniently controlled using the centre console or steering wheel controls – so you can keep your attention on the traffic and your hands on the steering wheel.
        feature_Categories_item_image2
    • Cruise control
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Conveniently operated from the steering wheel, cruise control allows you to drive in a more relaxed way without having to keep your foot on the accelerator. The car maintains the speed you choose until you turn off the cruise control or press the brake, accelerator or clutch. After braking or using the clutch, the car returns to its previous cruising speed at the touch of a button. After accelerating – for instance to overtake – your car automatically reverts to its previous cruising speed once you release the accelerator.
        feature_Categories_item_image2

    • Speed limiter
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 This helps ensure that you don't exceed a certain speed. Just set a speed using the steering wheel controls. When you reach the set speed you'll notice some subtle resistance feedback from the accelerator. To override the speed limiter all you have to do is press down the accelerator.

    • Park assist sensors, rear
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 Activated when you reverse, rear park assist sensors help you when manoeuvring into tight spaces. The audio system is turned down and a pulsating sound from the rear loudspeakers increases in frequency as the car gets closer to the obstacle, becoming a continuous tone when it’s time to stop. The centre console display screen shows a top view of the car and the activated sensors.

    • Electrically powered foldable rear head restraints
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 The outer head restraints can fold forward at the press of a button from the driver’s seat (optional) so they don’t block your field of vision when the rear seats are unoccupied. In the folded position, they are designed to obstruct passengers from sitting down without raising the restraints to their upright position.

    • Auto-dimming door mirrors with ground lighting
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 To help you negotiate those tight parking spots, your Volvo has electrically foldable door mirrors. And to make sure that a following car’s headlights don’t dazzle you, an auto-dimming function reduces intrusive light reflection. The door mirror auto-dimming function uses the same sensor located in your interior rearview mirror, which also dims when a following car’s headlights are too bright. This makes your journey safer and more relaxing at night. A handy light in each door mirror illuminates the ground beneath the front doors as you approach the car, which means you’ll see puddles and potential problems well in advance. The light also gives you extra security at night, especially in dark parking areas.

    • All-wheel Drive (AWD)
      • feature_Categories_item_image2 The advanced AWD technology with Instant Traction™ helps increase driving stability and traction on all road surfaces, in all weather conditions. It has an electronic management system that constantly monitors the speed of the wheels, the throttle, engine torque, engine speed and the brakes. As driving conditions change, wheels with the best grip get the most power. When a tyre loses traction, power is reduced to that wheel and instantly transferred to the more sure-footed wheels.

    Chassis & Steering

If your Volvo features a Geartronic™ automatic transmission, the engine automatically shuts off when you bring the car to a halt and restarts the instant you press the accelerator. An extra battery ensures that all infotainment and comfort systems will function as usual even with the engine shut off. The Stop/Start system can be deactivated with a push of a button in the centre console and is active between 0° and 30° C.
