Carefully selected materials accentuate the authentic, sustainable nature of luxury in the XC90. Déco trim options include Dark Driftwood and Black Walnut – beautiful wood finishes with a natural, contemporary appearance.

We have also added Tailored Wool Blend upholstery – a rich, comfortable fabric made from 30 per cent wool and 70 per cent recycled polyester, so you can indulge in luxury that’s been created using a sustainable, responsible approach to design and production.

Interaction is intuitive in the XC90. The digital driver display behind the steering wheel puts important information directly in front of you, and automatically adjusts brightness to the surrounding light conditions. The head-up display projects information onto the windscreen so you don’t need to take your eyes off the road, while the voice control function responds to natural speech, not just set prompts.

Volvo On Call* is the app that connects your phone, tablet or wearable device with your XC90 to make your car an even more useful part of your life. It offers a range of useful features, such as finding a parking space, booking a table at a restaurant, the ability to remotely pre-heat or cool the interior, lock and unlock the doors and check the car’s location. Syncing your calendar with Volvo On Call means you can opt to receive a reminder of appointments and have their location ready to go in the car’s navigation system. And as new services are added to Volvo On Call regularly, our latest innovations will be available at the swipe of a finger.

The range-topping Bowers & Wilkins audio was developed hand-in-hand with the XC90, so the sound you hear fits the interior perfectly, working with the car’s internal acoustics to deliver clarity and realism. The 19 speakers include a unique subwoofer that draws air in from outside the car to create deep, rich bass and a dash-mounted tweeter that faces into the cabin to minimise acoustic relection.

Three room modes – including Gothenburg Concert Hall – allow you to adapt the sound to your music or mood, while stainless steel speaker grilles and distinctive yellow speaker cones make this an audio system that looks as good as it sounds.

The XC90 supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which turn the centre display into an extension of your smartphone. Access your music and messages or make calls using your phone’s voice control assistant. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto only use the lower half of the screen, so the car’s other functions are still displayed.

The XC90 offers a choice of drive modes, for a driving experience to match the road and your mood. You can switch between three settings that alter the characteristics of the engine, automatic gearbox, steering, brakes, stability control system and engine Start/Stop. Comfort prioritises maximum comfort, Dynamic sharpens the car’s responses, Eco prioritises efficiency and Off-road helps out in rough conditions. A fifth mode, Individual, allows you to combine characteristics to create your own mode.

The interior of the XC90 is as practical as it is beautiful. Each backrest folds flat, so you have complete flexibility whether you’re carrying passengers or cargo. The third row of seats in the six-seat and seven-seat versions can be folded (and raised) from the driver’s seat at the touch of a button. Details such as shopping bag hooks and securing straps stop your bags from sliding around, while eyelets in the floor and a cargo net help secure larger items.

The 360˚ Camera available for the Volvo XC90 makes parking easier by giving you a bird’s-eye view of your car and its immediate surroundings. It allows you to see objects or vehicles that may be hard to spot using only the windows and mirrors and is especially useful when negotiating tight spaces. The surround view is available at speeds up to 10km/h.

City Safety helps to protect people inside and outside the car, day or night. This innovation – which is standard for every XC90 – identifies potential hazards such as other vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and large animals ahead. It warns you if it detects an imminent collision and, if you don’t react in time, can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision. It also includes Steering Support, which helps you to steer away from danger as effectively and safely as possible.

Safety is at the heart of the XC90. Ultra high-strength boron steel – one of the strongest types available – forms a rigid safety cell around the car’s occupants. Safety belt pre-tensioners and load limiters keep the belts in just the right state of tension while not exerting too much pressure on the body.

Get more from your XC90 with our useful accessories. An electrically operated towbar slides under the car when not in use. A steel grille provides a sturdy barrier between passenger and load compartments. Add a load compartment divider and a dog gate for safe and secure pet travel. Other accessories are available that are designed to help protect both the seats and load compartment to keep them looking like new.
