What Car?’s overall 2018 Car of the Year, the new Volvo XC40 premium compact SUV, is now available for test drives at Strathmore.
The car, breaks new ground for Volvo as its first ever compact SUV.
Every XC40 is exceptionally well equipped. Even the entry-level Momentum version has a nine-inch touch screen control system, satellite navigation, LED headlights, dual-zone climate control with a sophisticated interior air-quality system, and 18-inch alloy wheels – all as standard.
The XC40 comes with lots of exciting technology, too. This includes the Volvo On Call app, which allows you to control various car functions from your smartphone or smartwatch, while the Sensus nine-inch touch screen works in tandem with the sophisticated voice-activated control system.
Three petrol engines – the 156 hp T3, 190 hp T4 and 247 hp T5 – are available, along with two diesels – the 150 hp D3 and 190 hp D4. Front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearboxes allows you to choose the precise car to suit your individual needs.

Perth motorists can take to the road in Volvo’s new V60 premium mid-size estate following a nationwide launch of the model.
Now available to test drive at Perth’s Strathmore Volvo showroom, the V60 - with its class-leading boot space of 529 litres - was launched in mid-July.

Available from £31,810 on-the-road, the new V60 is initially offered in entry-level Momentum and luxurious Inscription versions (dynamic R-Design and rugged Cross Country variants will follow) and with a choice of 150hp D3 and 190hp D4 diesel engines, and a 250hp T5 petrol. Both diesel engines come with a choice of six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearboxes, while the petrol comes with an eight-speed automatic as standard.
Connectivity is also high on Volvo’s agenda with its On-Call smartphone, which keeps a driver connected with their car, standard on every V60 model. Meanwhile its Sensus infotainment system is fully compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and is controlled via an intuitive nine-inch tablet-style touchscreen that combines car functions, navigation, connected services and entertainment apps.

4 New World Records
Professional kitesurfers – Steph Bridge and sons Olly (18) and Guy (16) – took to the waters around the Isle of Wight on 30 June 2016 on their foiling kitesurf boards. Travelling the 50 nautical miles around the coastline of the Island on the south coast of the UK, they averaged speeds between 16 and 20 knots.
Guy was first around the island in a time of 2 hours 32 minutes and 25 seconds, averaging speeds of 19.68 knots, with the World Sailing Speed Record (WSSR) Council confirming that Guy is now officially the Fastest Kitesurfer around the Isle of Wight. He also set the record for the Fastest Singlehanded Sailor around this island at the same time
