Smartphone Integration

With Smartphone Integration it is possible to connect your Android or Apple telephone to your Volvo.

Use your car with your smartphone

Smartphone Integration makes it possible to easily connect and use your telephone in the car. For example, you can listen to music, get information about which route to take, and use the telephone's apps and functions via the car's centre display.

Android Auto

For installation of Android Auto to be possible, the car must be equipped with two USB ports (USB hub)2. If the car only has one USB port then it is not possible to use Android Auto.

It is not possible to install Android Auto on the XC90 or XC90 Twin Engine model year 2016 since they do not have the USB hub. It is not possible to retrofit the USB hub on these models.

To use Android Auto you need to install the Android Auto app on your mobile phone. For information about markets in which the app is available, see the Android Auto website.

Android Auto runs in the background if another app is started in the same tile. If you want to show Android Auto in the tile again - tap on the Android Auto icon in App view.

Some phones require that the phone's Bluetoothvolume is manually set to 100% in order for the audio volume in the car to be sufficiently high. This setting needs to be made for each phone connected. The setting is made once for phone calls and once for streaming media. The system will then remember the setting and it does not need to be repeated next time the phone is connected.
