Setting up Trips for your car
Trips automatically logs all journeys made with your car. To start logging journeys, you first need to enable Trips and turn on location sharing.

The availability of Trips can vary depending on car model, model year and region. Available functions may also vary over time.
This article is applicable to models with Google built-in.
When Trips is enabled, the app automatically collects your car's VIN[1], location and other trip-related data, such as time, distance, fuel and electric consumption. You can view the trips log in the Volvo Cars app.
Note
Make sure that your car and the Volvo Cars app have the newest software version installed.
You can check your car's software version via settings in the display.
Setting up Trips
To start logging journeys, you first need to enable Trips via the Volvo Cars app.
Enabling trips
- Go to the car tab
and open Trips. - Turn on the Trips log.
When you have enabled Trips, you will also need to consent to privacy permissions and allow location sharing via the display.
Enabling privacy permissions and location sharing
- Press the car symbol
in the bottom bar. - Go to Privacy→Data sharing with Volvo Cars.
- Enable location sharing.You are now all set for your trips to be logged.
Note
Viewing trips
When Trips is enabled, all users that have paired the Volvo Cars app with the car can see the trips. If Trips is disabled, the car stops sending information about new trips.
Information about a trip is stored for 400 days.
Profiles
Trips needs to be enabled separately for each profile using the car. This includes enabling consent and permissions.
