Voice control
Voice commands facilitate the experience and can help you to concentrate on your driving and focus your attention on the road and traffic situation. You can also use voice control to interact with Volvo's navigation system1.
Voice control is available in the following languages: English (UK), English (US), French, French (Canada), Italian, Japanese, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian, Spanish, Spanish (Latin America), Dutch, Swedish and German.
Warning
Connecting a mobile phone
Before voice commands to a mobile phone can be used the mobile phone must be registered and connected via Bluetooth® handsfree. If a telephone command is given and no mobile phone is connected, the system can provide you with information about this. For information on registering and connecting a mobile phone, see Pair your Volvo with a Bluetooth® device or Pair a Bluetooth® device with your Volvo.
Getting started with voice control
Press the voice control button on the steering wheel in order to activate the system and start a dialogue with voice commands. The system then displays common commands in the centre console screen.
Bear the following things in mind when you use the voice control system:
- For a command - speak after the tone, with normal voice at normal speed.
- Do not speak while the system is replying (the system cannot understand commands during this time).
- The car's doors, windows and sunroof2 must be closed.
- Avoid background noise in the passenger compartment.
Note
If the driver is unsure of which command to use, he/she can say "Help" - the system then responds with several different commands which can be used in the current situation.
Voice recognition can be disabled by:
- saying "Cancel"
- Press EXIT or another main source button (e.g. MEDIA).
