Park Pilot Assist

Park Pilot Assist is a driver support system that takes control of your car while parking, steering it smoothly into parallel spaces using ultrasonic sensors. It’s accessed via the parking view in the centre display. Read more about it in the user manual.

Pilot Assist additions

An addition to Pilot Assist now lets you set a desired time interval to vehicles in front of you via the driving settings in the centre display.

Speed Limit Assist is another new addition to Pilot Assist that lets you set the speed by accepting or rejecting speed limit updates, regardless of whether you’re using steering assist. You can enable this in the driving settings menu.

Connected safety

Connected Safety allows your car to communicate with other cars through the cloud, which can alert you to accidents or traffic jams further up the road. Connected Safety provides warnings for:

• slippery road conditions
• vehicles with hazard lights activated

Emergency Stop Assist (ESA)

Updates to driver support after an emergency intervention. If the driver doesn’t interrupt ESA before the car comes to a standstill, the car will contact a call centre automatically to check up on the driver.

In-car communication

The car now uses its built-in microphones and voice amplification to project your voice to passengers in the rear seats. Passengers in the second and third rows can hear you speaking through the car’s sound system, which adjusts volume automatically. With Bose Premium Sound or Bowers & Wilkins High-Fidelity sound systems, microphones in the rear enable easy communication between the front and rear seats. You can activate this in the sound settings.

Wing mirrors

Your wing mirrors now automatically fold in when you lock the car, helping protect them and giving you one less thing to think about as you walk away. They also unfold automatically when you unlock the car.

In addition, here are some other new features:

• You can reorder apps in the application tab by pressing and holding an app icon and then dragging it to where you want it.
• You can activate battery preconditioning manually for fast charging, in addition to the option of setting via the navigation screen.

General

• Battery: reduced power consumption when the car is parked.
• Pinch protection: the third-row backrest now reverses at a wider angle to prevent pinching when folding the rear seat.
• Menu design: updates to the Drive modes menu to make it easier to use.
• Auto climate: updates to the climate system to enhance performance in sunny conditions.

Driver support

• Pilot Assist: updates to the driver behaviour detection to make sure the driver is paying attention to the road ahead before allowing the car to follow a lead vehicle from a standstill.
• Driver Alert: updates to provide necessary distraction warnings even when Driver Alert is turned off.

Lights

• Adaptive high beams: updates to light patterns to reduce glare for other drivers and create a better driving experience at night.
• Smoother high beams: updates to high beams to provide a smoother light transition when the high beam passes over objects.
• Exterior low beams: updated to turn on automatically before you enter a tunnel, if light settings are on Auto and the ambient light is Daytime.

In addition, we've made some additional improvements:

• Unlocking the car when approaching has been updated to be more reliable.
• The tailgate opens completely when you exit the car after opening the tailgate via the centre display.
• The climate system now always starts when you start the car.
• The rear climate panel will reliably show the correct temperature.
• When you start the parking climate remotely it will more consistently complete its 45-minute cycle.
• The “All ON” button in the overhead console has had an update to be more consistent and reliable.

Driver display and head-up display (HUD)

• The estimated time of arrival (ETA) now shows in the driver display when a navigation route is set and the map view is active.
• You can now see the status of Adaptive Cruise Control and Pilot Assist as well as their target speed in the head-up display (see the image below).

Volvo Cars app

• There’s now a QR code in the centre display that you can scan to connect the mobile app to the car. You can still use your Volvo ID and password if you prefer.
• You can change charging settings for specific locations via the mobile app.

Other

• Unlocking the car in wet weather is now more reliable.
• Updates to the parking view camera.
• The welcome and farewell lighting now includes more rear light animations.
• The high beams activate more quickly after passing another vehicle.

Important

After installing this update, you’ll see a message saying, “Very low range, charge car as soon as possible”. You can safely ignore this message as the actual battery status will be displayed afterwards.

We’ve improved the performance of the boot opening triggers. Now the first press of the button or foot movement under the rear bumper will trigger the boot to open.

The alarm sensor no longer flashes while you’re driving.

We’ve fixed an issue causing the charging screen to unintentionally pop-up during parking.

The centre display no longer flickers when switching between day and night mode while driving.

Google security patch level has been increased to Feb 1st, 2025.

Wireless Apple CarPlay

Apple CarPlay gives you another way of using your iPhone via the car's interface. You can use certain communication, navigation and media apps on your iPhone via the centre display as well as the steering wheel buttons and voice control.

Connect your iPhone to the car via Bluetooth and activate Apple CarPlay. After setting up CarPlay for the first time, it automatically starts when you connect your phone via Bluetooth again.

Digital Key

Digital Key is available for compatible Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices. To set up a new digital key, navigate to the owner profile in the centre display, select Car Keys and Set up digital key. Then scan the QR code using your device and follow the link that appears.

You can also share a key across platforms, such as between compatible Android and Apple devices. Remember to check the compatibility of your device on the manufacturer's website and whether this feature is available in your market.

Car Locator

You can use the Volvo Cars app to find your car, if you left it in a large car park for example, by flashing the lights and sounding the horn remotely. Availability may depend on your region.

Improvements

You can now turn the centre display off for cleaning.

If you have a distance-capable key on you, the car will lock automatically when you walk away from it and there are also improvements to automatic unlocking for when you approach the car.

You can adjust the light intensity in the centre display and the settings are stored for the next driving cycle.

After you’ve turned it on, the wireless charger will stay on until you turn if off manually.

The boot hatch won’t close while unloading things from the boot.

Heat status for the steering wheel and seat heating is now shown correctly in the centre display.

It’s now possible to use the Bowers and Wilkins (B & W) app in the car.

The initial wiper stroke is removed.

The operational range for the forward collision warning system has been expanded to account for cars moving perpendicular to the car and can engage autonomous braking when both cars are moving at speeds between 40 and 60 km/h. This change does not affect compliance with any certification regulations.
