Real-time energy meter

You can use the real-time energy meter together with the Volvo wallbox to measure your home energy consumption in real-time and adjust it to your needs.

The real-time energy meter must be connected directly to the wallbox, through either an ethernet cable or router.

 Important

Your real-time energy meter must be mounted and connected to your wallbox by a certified electrician. It's recommended that the electrician is a certified Volvo installation partner. If this wasn't organised when purchasing your real-time energy meter, contact a Volvo dealer who can help you select one.

The real-time energy meter enables bi-directional charging when connected with a Volvo wallbox, allowing you to not only charge your car, but send unused energy back to the grid.

 Note

Bi-directional charging can be used when available in your market, and with a compatible Volvo such as EX90, or other future models.

When paired with your Volvo wallbox, you can monitor the energy usage in real-time and adjust the charging rate for your car from the Volvo Cars app. You'll see your household's total and real-time energy consumption on the digital display, as well as voltage, current and power.

It's compatible with both 1 phase and 3 phase AC (Alternating Current) charging when connected to the Volvo wallbox.

Safety features

The real-time energy meter has a number of safety features including load balancing and fuse protection. These features help prevent overloading of your home’s electrical system.

 Note

The real-time energy meter is the only load balancer that works with the Volvo wallbox.
