Estimated range

Your car's estimated range depends on several factors and is shown in the driver display. For C40 and XC40 Recharge Pure Electric with model year 2024, a range lower than expected might be shown in the driver display when you pick up your new car.

Before driving the car for the first time, the displayed estimated range might be lower than the actual range. However, this doesn't affect the car's performance.

It will take approximately two complete battery cycles for the car to adapt to your driving behavior and base the estimated range on real-life conditions.

 Note

Volvo Cars recommends that you plan recharging your car based on the remaining battery percentage as estimated range values are not intended to be absolute values.

Range

Your car's range is primarily related to the battery and your driving behaviour. However, external conditions can also have an influence. The estimated range is an estimation of how far you can drive with the current battery level. It is calculated based on your driving pattern, both current and historical, and on real-time driving conditions.

Examples of factors that affect your car's range:
  • Speed
  • City driving and traffic situation
  • Eco driving
  • Outside temperature
  • Battery temperature
  • Preconditioning
  • Climate settings
  • Tyres and tyre pressure
