The new Volvo XC60

The LED headlights of the XC60 create a strong identity and superior vision at night. Two types are available: LED Illumination switches between dipped and full beam to provide the best view without dazzling others. Active High Beam Illumination technology keeps the lights on full beam but masks out the section that could dazzle oncoming traffic, for optimum illumination. Active High Beam Illumination also includes Active Bending Lights that turn in the same direction as the steering wheel, for better views through corners.

Optional air suspension makes the XC60 even more capable, by keeping the ride height constant and giving you a smoother, more controlled ride over bumps and through corners. The suspension’s responses are adjusted constantly on the move, according to its drive mode and speed.

Loading and unloading is easier with the power-operated tailgate available for the XC60. It allows you to open or close the tailgate by pressing a button on the car’s remote control, tailgate or dashboard. When combined with the keyless entry option it also offers a hands-free function so that you can open or shut the tailgate by simply moving your foot under the rear bumper.

The minimalist, considered design inside the XC60 allows you to focus on its beautiful details. They include the sleek centre touch screen and unique air vents with their slender, metal-finished controls. Carefully chosen materials are another example of an interior defined by contemporary craftsmanship. Inscription trim includes decor in Driftwood – a unique wood treatment that is satisfying to look at and touch, and which references Volvo Cars’ Swedish heritage.

Technology is more useful when it’s easy to use, which is why interacting with the XC60 feels like second nature. A digital driver display puts important information right in front of you, and its brightness adjusts to the surroundings so it’s always easy to read.

An advanced voice control function allows you to operate climate control, navigation, media and telephone functions using natural speech patterns – there’s no need to memorise set prompts or commands. And the optional head-up display projects information, like speed and navigation commands, onto the windscreen, reducing the need to take your eyes off the road.

With integrated mild hybrid power, Volvo Cars’ latest powertrains deliver more power, more refinement and a more fuel-efficient delivery. The new 48-volt integrated starter generator means the Start/Stop system of the XC60 is smoother than ever. Regenerative braking gathers charge as you slow down, and recycles it to deliver a boost as you accelerate, helping improve not only performance and efficiency but also reduce emissions.

The range of audio systems includes the top-of-the-range Bowers & Wilkins audio, which provides exceptional clarity and power. This features a unique air-ventilated subwoofer that creates precise bass tones, while three room modes allow you to adapt the sound to your music or mood. Yellow speaker cones set behind stainless steel panels make this is an audio system that looks as good as it sounds.

Harman Kardon Premium Sound uses Dirac Unison® tuning software to optimise the response of individual speakers. Automatic Level Adjustment delivers a seamless listening experience, while special algorithms adjust the output to compensate for external noise.

Volvo On Call* is the app that connects your phone, tablet or wearable device with your Volvo XC60. You can use it to help find a parking space or even book a table at a restaurant. This makes your car a more useful part of your world, as well as providing remote access and a range of useful functions, such as the option to pre-heat or pre-cool your XC60, lock or unlock it remotely and find it in a crowded car park. This is just the start, too – with new services being added to Volvo On Call all the time, our latest innovations will be there at the swipe of a finger.

Pilot Assist helps make driving in heavy traffic less tiring. This driving assistance technology keeps a set speed and distance to the vehicle in front of you, and uses steering inputs to keep you in the centre of your lane. Pilot Assist, which works at speeds up to 130km/h, sends a gentle vibration through the steering wheel to let you know that it’s active.

For the EU and US, Pilot Assist also uses the navigation system to predict curves ahead and adapt its speed accordingly, delivering even greater comfort and security.

Safety is at the heart of the XC60. Ultra high-strength boron steel – one of the strongest types available – forms a rigid safety cell around the car’s occupants. Safety belt pre-tensioners and load limiters keep the belts in just the right state of tension while not exerting too much pressure on the body.

Our range of styling accessories allows you to give the XC60 a look that’s all yours. Each one has been created by our designers to complement the athletic look of the XC60. The exterior styling kit includes front and rear skid plates in stainless steel, and unique integrated double tail pipes. Also available are body-coloured wheel arch extensions, which help give the XC60 an even more purposeful appearance.
