Restarting the centre display

If the centre display's response is slow, it might help to restart the display. A restart may also fix the problem if you are experiencing issues with e.g. Bluetooth, navigation or connectivity.

This article is applicable to models with Google built-in. The instructions vary depending on car model, so be sure to read the section that applies to your car.

EX30

The car needs to be at a stand-still with the parking brake applied.
Simultaneously press and hold the EX30-24w04-Latest info-Minus symbol and EX30-24w04-Latest info-Down arrow symbol buttons on the steering wheel. You need to hold the buttons for approximately 15 seconds until the display turns off and then restarts showing the Volvo logo.

This procedure might need to be performed more than once to be effective.

Applicable models

All cars with Google built-in except EX30

To restart the centre display, press and hold the Home button below the display for 20 seconds. The screen will first go into cleaning mode. Continue to hold the button until the display turns off and then restarts showing the Volvo logo. The procedure is shown in this video:

This procedure might need to be performed more than once to be effective.

For cars without Google built-in there is no option to manually reboot the centre display. Pressing the Home button only turns off the screen, but it does not restart the system. The system will reboot itself when necessary and it always reboots as a cold-start when you leave and lock the car.

If connectivity is not restored through a centre display restart, there are a few other things you can try. These solutions are described in a separate article.
