Charging your car with the Volvo wallbox
You can start and stop each wallbox charging session in the Volvo Cars app.
Starting charging
Avoid plugging the charging cable in when there is risk of thunderstorms or lightning strikes.Important
Make sure the car is in park (P).
1. Open the charging lid on your car by lightly pressing on its rearmost end.
2. Remove any protective covers from the charging port and cable connector.
3. Plug the wallbox charging cable into the car.
> When the cable is fully inserted it locks into place.
4. If you’re using Unrestricted mode your car will begin charging automatically.
5. If you have Restricted mode enabled you’ll need to approve the session either by tapping your RFID on the wallbox, or open the Volvo Cars app > Profile tab > Wallbox > Approve session.
> Charging starts within a few seconds and once started, the charging input socket or charging port light pulsates green.
Stopping charging
Always stop the charging session before attempting to unplug the charging cable from the car. If you don't, you may cause damage to the cable or the system.Important
1. To stop charging, press the release button next to the charging input socket, charging port or via the centre display.
For the EX30 you can stop charging by unlocking you car or via the centre display.
When you unlock your car, charging stops and the charging cable unlocks for around 90 seconds. If you do not remove the cable within this time, it re-locks and charging resumes.Note
2. Unplug the charging cable from the car.
3. Reattach any protective covers to the charging port and cable connector.
4. Close the charging lid.
Charging with an RFID tag

If you're a guest user, and the wallbox is set to Restricted you'll need to use an RFID tag to charge your car ad the owner will need to grant you access to the wallbox before you begin charging. To do this, simply tap your RFID on the wallbox, the owner will have to open the Volvo Cars app and approve the charging session.
LED colours on the wallbox

| Red, solid | A fault has arisen. Check the charging cable's connection to the car’s charging input socket and power source. Then restart charging in the following steps: 1. Unplug the charging cable from the charging input socket. 2. Wait for a short time. 3. Plug the charging cable into the charging input socket again. 4. If charging doesn't begin try restarting your wallbox by turning the power off and on again. 5. If the problem persists – contact your Volvo dealer. |
