Real-time energy meter

You can use the real-time energy meter together with the Volvo wallbox to measure home energy consumption and adjust it to your needs.

The real-time energy meter must be connected directly to the wallbox, through either an ethernet cable or router.

Important

Your real-time energy meter must be mounted and connected to your wallbox by a certified electrician. It's recommended that the electrician is a certified Volvo installation partner. If this wasn't organised when purchasing your real-time energy meter, contact a Volvo dealer who can help you select one.

The real-time energy meter is used to monitor your home’s energy usage and provide fuse protection. It’s also one of the key requirements for bi-directional charging, enabling energy to be discharged from a compatible Volvo, such as the EX60 when used in connection via a Volvo wallbox with bi-directional functionality. For more information see the articles about the Volvo wallbox or bi-directional charging.

Note

Bi-directional charging can be used when available in your market, and with a compatible Volvo such as EX60, or other future models.

It's compatible with both 1 phase and 3 phase AC (Alternating Current) charging when connected to the Volvo wallbox.

Safety features

The real-time energy meter has a number of safety features including load balancing and fuse protection. These features help prevent overloading of your home’s electrical system.

Note

The real-time energy meter is the only load balancer that works with the Volvo wallbox.
