Phone as digital key

The mobile app for this vehicle works as a multifunctional key, working at range using Bluetooth. This allows you to lock, unlock and drive the vehicle.

This digital key allows you to lock and unlock the vehicle from a distance.

 Tip

Windows can be remotely opened or closed using your phone.

The digital key works passively, allowing the vehicle to lock and unlock as you come and go. When you enter the vehicle, the vehicle allows you to access its functions and drive.

When using your digital key, if the proximity lock function is turned off in settings, you need to manually lock the vehicle. You do this by placing your thumb at a specific point on the driver door handle.

You activate and manage digital keys through the mobile app.

 Tip

Sometimes signal interference may cause connectivity issues between your phone and your vehicle. If this happens, remember that your phone can work as a key card due to its NFC1 capability.
If you're having problems with your connection, make sure that:
  • your phone is charged
  • there are no obstructions, such as concrete pillars, between the phone and the remote sensors in the vehicle
  • your phone's Bluetooth is on and connected to the vehicle
  • your phone app and your vehicle display are updated
  • any required access settings are selected.

 Note

If the digital key appears to not be working as intended, try restarting the app or phone. You can also try to temporarily disconnect Bluetooth. If you still experience trouble, contact Volvo Support.
