Power trunk release*
The optional power trunk function can be used to open/close the trunk lid automatically.
The trunk can also be opened by moving your foot under a sensor under the rear bumper*. See the article "Foot movement trunk opening/closing" for additional information.
Opening the trunk
The trunk can be opened by pressing the button on the underside of the trunk lid, by pressing the button on the lighting panel or remote key, or with a foot movement*.

- Pressing and holding the
button on the lighting panel until the trunk lid begins to open. - Pressing and holding the
button on the remote key until the trunk lid begins to open. - Pressing lightly on the rubber-covered button on the underside of the trunk lid.
- Moving your foot under a sensor under the rear bumper*.
Closing the trunk
The trunk can be closed by pressing the button on the lighting panel or on the remote key, by pressing the button on the lower edge of the trunk lid*[1] or by moving your foot under a sensor beneath the rear bumper*.
- Press and hold the
button on the lighting panel or on the
button on the remote key.The trunk will close automatically and audible signal will sound. This will not lock the trunk.

- Press the
button[1] on the lower edge of the trunk lid. The trunk will close automatically but will not be locked.
The button remains active for 24 hours after the trunk lid has been left open, after which the trunk will have be closed manually.Note
- Press the
button[1] on the lower edge of the trunk lid.The trunk will close automatically. The trunk and doors will also be locked and the alarm will be armed.
If the remote key is not close enough to the trunk, automatic locking/unlocking/opening/closing will not be possible. Three short audible signals will sound.
Interrupting opening/closing
- This can be done in five ways:
- Press the button on the lighting panel
- Press the button on the remote key
- Press either of the buttons on the lower edge of the trunk lid
- Press lightly on the rubber-covered button under the edge of the trunk lid
- Move your foot under a sensor beneath the rear bumper*
The trunk lid will stop moving and can be opened/closed manually.
Pinch protection
If the trunk lid is obstructed when being opened/closed, a pinch protection mechanism is activated.
- While opening: the trunk lid will stop moving and an audible signal will sound.
- While closing: the trunk lid will stop and return to the currently programmed maximum opening position. An audible signal will sound.
Pay attention to the risk of injury when opening/ closing the trunk. Before opening/closing: Make sure that no one is in the path of the trunk lid as an injury could occur.Warning
Preloaded springs

Warning
Never touch or attempt to access the preloaded springs for the trunk lid release function. Doing so could result in serious injury.
