Coast function with engine off*
When the coast function[1] is active, the engine can be temporarily switched off at high speeds. The function can help to reduce fuel consumption.
Activate coast function
The vehicle needs to reach a speed of 45 km/h (27 mph) or higher.
- Release the accelerator pedal.The engine switches off and the vehicle rolls freely.
If the coast function is not activated, it may be because the vehicle's functions do not allow it, e.g. the climate system or because the vehicle ahead is too close.Note
Deactivate coast function
- Do one of the following
- Pressing the accelerator pedal.
- Switch to manual gear selector position.
The engine starts.
