Unpairing the Volvo Cars app

Before you uninstall the Volvo Cars app, make sure that you have unpaired it from the vehicle to properly remove the connection. It may cause inconvenience for you to connect to your vehicle in the future if you only remove the app from your phone. How you unpair the app depends on vehicle model and model year, so be sure to read the section that applies to your vehicle.

Ending ownership through the Volvo Cars app

By ending ownership of the vehicle, all connections to the vehicle and all profiles in the vehicle are removed.

Follow these steps to ensure a complete reset of your vehicle:
Log in to the Volvo Cars app.
Go to Px-2037-VOC app icon Profile > Connected vehicles.
Select the relevant vehicle.
Tap I no longer own this Volvo and follow the instructions in the app.
All paired devices are disconnected and the vehicle is reset to factory settings.

 Note

A factory reset will remove any phones paired with your vehicle, reset the vehicle to factory values and remove all data and settings stored in the vehicle.

Unpairing a phone from the vehicle

By unpairing a phone, you will remove the connection between your vehicle and the phone. You can unpair the phone either via the Volvo Cars app or via the vehicle's center display. Users with administrator privileges can view and unpair all phones connected with the vehicle. Other users can only view and unpair their own phone.

From the Volvo Cars app:
Log in to the Volvo Cars app.
Go to Connected vehicles in the Px-2037-VOC app icon Profile tab.
Select the relevant vehicle.
Press Disconnect next to the phone you want to unpair and follow the instructions in the app.
If your vehicle is updated with software version 2.5 or later, you can unpair the phone from the center display:
Go to iCup-2037-Settings symbol > Profiles > Volvo Cars app devices.
Select the phone you wish to unpair and press Unpair this phone.
The chosen phone is unpaired from the vehicle, but other phones remain paired.

Performing a factory reset

If you have a pre-owned vehicle and the previous user has not removed their profiles and devices are still paired, a factory reset is recommended.
