Following a comprehensive two-year review of its national retail network, Volvo Car Ireland has announced a strategic transformation of its retail footprint across Ireland. The revised network is supported by a combined investment commitment of €40 million from retail partners and is designed to support the continued growth of Volvo's premium electric vehicle offering.
Investing in the Future of Volvo in Ireland
As the automotive industry continues its transition towards electrification, Volvo Car Ireland is evolving its retail network to ensure customers continue to receive the highest standards of service, expertise and support. The updated network brings together retail partners who share a common vision for the future of the Volvo brand in Ireland.
Volvo Car Ireland is targeting a 50% increase in sales between 2025 and 2030, with the ambition of achieving a 15% share of Ireland's premium car market. This transformation is designed to support that growth while enhancing the customer experience at every touchpoint.
Achieving our Goals
The company will streamline its operations to focus on dedicated retail partners across the country. Commenting on the announcement, Alan Cowley, Managing Director of Volvo Car Ireland, said: "This restructure and substantial investment mark a pivotal moment for Volvo in Ireland. By reimagining our network with highly committed partners, we are ensuring that our retail experience matches the premium, sustainable ethos of our rapidly growing electric vehicle lineup. This ensures we are perfectly positioned to meet Irish consumer demand and deliver a world-class customer experience as we approach our 100th year." This announcement arrives during a period of significant momentum for electric vehicles in Ireland. For the first half of this year (January to June 2026), EV sales across the country grew by 48%, vastly outperforming the total Irish automotive market’s growth of just 4% during the same period.
Each partner shares a unified strategic vision and brand alignment to maximise Volvo’s potential in the Irish market as the car industry rapidly shifts toward electrification, and as Volvo prepares to celebrate its global centenary in 2027. The €40 million collective investment will drive a complete reimagining of the traditional customer retail and service journey. Key to this transformation is the introduction of new, super-premium showroom lounges. Designed to elevate the retail experience, each space combines Scandinavian design with warm hospitality. A welcoming glass exterior leads guests into a calm, lounge-inspired environment, thoughtfully created for comfort and connection. The design aims to foster genuine customer connections within an inviting environment, to reflect how luxury and environmental stewardship can seamlessly coexist.
A New Customer Experience
For Irish customers, the experience of buying and owning a car is just as important as the car itself. As expectations continue to evolve, customers are increasingly seeking a more personal, transparent and convenient experience. These new retail spaces have been designed to reflect that shift, creating welcoming environments where customers can explore Volvo's range, ask questions and receive expert guidance in a relaxed setting.
Development has already commenced at Volvo Cars Sligo, with construction on the new Volvo Cars North Dublin site scheduled to begin by the end of this year. All upgrade works across the retail network are projected to be fully completed within the next four years.
Built Around People
The Volvo Car purpose is to provide freedom to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way. With a deep understanding of human behaviour Volvo Cars develop products that understand, support and protect people in and around the car. The company always aims for the highest standards of sustainability in mobility. This approach does not mean compromise, it means creating smarter, more efficient products that people can be proud to choose. In 1927, its founders stated that safety is the guiding principle behind everything they do. The company stays committed to leadership in safety and a higher quality of life for people.
