Getting started with your wallbox
Before you can start charging your car with your wallbox, it needs to be mounted by a certified electrician.
Mounting your wallbox
Your Volvo wallbox must be mounted by a certified electrician. It's recommended that the electrician is a certified Volvo installation partner. If this wasn't organised when purchasing your wallbox, contact a Volvo dealer who can help you select one.Note
Once mounted, there are some additional steps the electrician needs to take to get your wallbox ready. If this wasn't done, the following sections will help you to complete these steps.
Your wallbox needs an internet connection to configure your car and access connected functionalities. You can connect via Wi-Fi, ethernet cable, or mobile data by inserting a SIM card into the wallbox's SIM card slot. If you're using ethernet or mobile data, make sure the installer connects the cable or inserts the SIM card during the installation process.Important
Activating your wallbox account
After your Volvo wallbox has been mounted by a certified electrician, they need to activate your wallbox account. If for some reason this was not done, see the article related to activating your wallbox account for more information.
Configuring your wallbox after activating your account
As well as activating your wallbox account, the electrician must also configure your wallbox before you can start using it. If this wasn't done you can do this yourself by following the steps in the article configuring your wallbox after activating your account.
Downloading the Volvo Cars app
You need to download and connect the Volvo Cars app to your wallbox to access all the charging functions.
The Volvo Cars app is available for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch as well as Android phones and Android tablets. You can download it for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app is updated regularly, so make sure that you have the latest version on your phone.
The minimum software version required on your device to use the Volvo Cars app is:
- iOS 16.4
- Android 8.0
Once the installation process is complete and you've downloaded the app, you're ready to connect the app to your wallbox.
