Connection via Wi-Fi
It is possible in your car to set up an Internet connection via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi from your mobile phone. When you have selected a connection via Wi-Fi from your mobile phone, an icon will be displayed on the screen in the car. The icon shows that Wi-Fi is enabled.
The signal strength of the Wi-Fi is shown in the icon. When it is white, a connection has been established between the car and the device. If the icon has a red 'x' or an animated yellow connection arrow, you are not connected to Wi-Fi or the Internet.
Saved networks
The car can list up to 10 saved networks which are only shown when they are available. These networks are then shown in the Wi-Fi menu. If the network has previously been saved, you can use a drop-down menu to select an option to forget the network. The car will then no longer attempt to connect automatically to the network.
Note
Automatic connection
If you have established an Internet connection via Wi-Fi, the car will remember the connection even if you switch off the car and restart it later. The car then attempts to connect automatically to the Internet. Note that Wi-Fi is shut down while the car is switched off so as to prevent battery discharge and uncontrolled use of the Internet.
Problems with Wi-Fi connection
If you experience problems with your Wi-Fi connection, check your mobile phone's network coverage and available data volume. Sometimes the phone's hotspot may be visible even though the phone has no network coverage or insufficient data volume.
Problems with iPhone Hotspot
To avoid problems with connection to an iPhone, you should have the menu option 'personal hotspot' running on your iPhone until the car is connected. You can use your iPhone as usual again once the connection has been established.
Note
Note
When tethering an Internet connection via Wi-Fi from an iPhone (all models) to the car, the connection will be interrupted when a phone call, or audio transfer via Bluetooth® takes place. This can lead to apps and other services based on Internet connection being affected.
The connection is resumed when the Bluetooth® call or audio transfer ends.
To avoid interference during the use of apps and services, it is recommended to use tethering via Bluetooth® instead of Wi-Fi when iPhone phones are used.
