Volvo EX60 named one of Newsweek’s ‘Most Anticipated New Vehicles’ of 2026 in the United States and Canada

RICHMOND HILL, Ontario (Dec. 17, 2025) – The soon-to-be-revealed fully electric Volvo EX60 has been named a winner of Newsweek’s second annual ‘Most Anticipated New Vehicles’ of 2026 in the United States and Canada.

Born electric, the EX60 will be the first car launched on Volvo Cars’ latest technology base – delivering a longer electric range than any Volvo car before it, along with a groundbreaking user experience.

As Volvo Cars’ first fully electric car in the premium mid-size SUV segment—a category where the company is already a leader—the new EX60 is set to become a cornerstone of the product line. It marks a significant step in Volvo Cars’ ongoing transformation into a fully electrified car maker.

“The upcoming Volvo EX60 will deliver electric power and Volvo's trademark Scandinavian style in 2026," said Eileen Falkenberg-Hull, senior editor of Autos at Newsweek. "Volvo's long safety record, connected cockpit and upmarket materials choices make the EX60 a model worth buyers' consideration and one of Newsweek’s Most Anticipated New Vehicles.”

Debuting in the EX60 is the new multi-adaptive safety belt, a world-first technology aimed to further enhance safety for everyone in real-world traffic situations. Using real-time data from the car’s advanced sensors, combined with powerful core computing technology, it is designed to better protect passengers in the front row by adapting to the situation and the person wearing it.

The EX60 will be revealed online and in Stockholm on January 21, 2026, and it will be built in the company’s Torslanda plant in Gothenburg, Sweden, with production set to begin in the first half of 2026.

The EX60 was also named a winner in Europe and Scandinavia. Additional Volvo Cars winners recognized by Newsweek include the Volvo ES90 in South Africa and the Volvo XC40 in Korea.
