Record plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales in 2025, representing 25% of vehicles sold
RICHMOND HILL, ON (January 7, 2026) – With strong demand across the lineup, Volvo Car Canada reports an all-time annual sales record of 14,500 vehicles sold for the year in 2025, an increase of 8.2 percent over the previous year.

Strong annual sales performance across popular XC lineup
Volvo Car Canada delivered record-breaking annual sales across its popular XC range of models, underscoring strong consumer demand throughout the lineup. The XC60 compact luxury SUV led as the top-selling model, with 4,731 units sold (+1 percent). It was followed by the XC90 midsize luxury SUV, which posted a significant increase to 4,083 units sold (+55.5 percent), and the XC40 small luxury SUV, with 3,974 units sold (+16.2 percent).
Record plug-in hybrid sales
Strong sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles led the way for Volvo Car Canada in 2025. The company reported an annual record with 3,660 units sold, up 3.5 percent over last year and representing 25 percent of total sales, reflecting strong momentum as Canadians continue to choose electrification without compromise.
Steady growth heading into 2026
For the month of December, the company reported total sales of 1,070 vehicles, up 1.5 percent over last year. For the month, XC90 was the best-selling model with 396 units sold (up 33.3 percent) and representing 37 percent of the total mix. This, followed by XC60, with 327 units sold (up 31.9 percent) and representing 31 percent of the mix.
