When you connect a Bluetooth® device you can do this from either the device or your Volvo. This article describes how to set up a connection (pair) between your Volvo and a Bluetooth® device (e.g. cell phone or tablet).

If a new device is connected with the same name as a previous device, the previous device may need to be deleted first.
Pair your Volvo with a Bluetooth® device
There are two different versions of the infotainment system. To see which version is in your vehicle, check if you have the 
connection button. If present, go to section Sensus Connect, otherwise go to section Sensus.
Sensus Connect
In your phone: Go to Settings and check that Bluetooth® is activated.
In your phone: Make sure the phone set to visible.
On the center console: Press TEL and then select OK/MENU.
On the center console: Turn the OK/MENU button to select Search new phone (for media device Search new device) and press OK/MENU.
The system will now search for available phones.
On the center console: Select your device from the list and press OK/MENU.
On the center console: Select Connect for phone or Connect for media and press OK/MENU.
Ensure that the code displayed on your mobile phone is the same as the one shown on the screen in your car. If so, accept the code in both places.
In your phone: Accept or reject any choices regarding its phone book and messages (only applies to some phone models).
The phone/media device is now paired with your Volvo. If this method is unsuccessful, press EXIT and follow the instructions in Pair a Bluetooth® device with your Volvo or contact your Volvo dealer.
Sensus
In your phone: Go to Settings and check that Bluetooth® is activated.
On the center console: Press TEL or MEDIA and then select OK/MENU.
Follow the instructions on your external device and on the car's screen to complete the procedure.
The phone/media device is now paired with your Volvo. If this method is unsuccessful, press EXIT and follow the instructions in Pair a Bluetooth® device with your Volvo or contact your Volvo dealer.
Note
This procedure only has to be performed once. Your Volvo will then attempt to connect automatically to your device when it is within range of the system, as long as Bluetooth® is enabled.
Note
If your cell phone's operating system is updating, it may interrupt the connection between the telephone and vehicle. If this happens, delete the telephone from the list of paired telephones (see Remove a Bluetooth device from your Volvo) and repeat the pairing procedure described in this article.
