Upgrading to Google Gemini in your car
Google Gemini is gradually being rolled out to Volvo cars as an opt-in upgrade to Google Assistant. When it's available for your Google Account, you will be able to opt in to get started.

The availability of Gemini can vary depending on car model, model year and region. Available features may also vary depending on your car model and model year, as well as the hardware and processing power of your car.

Availability
Not all users will have access to Gemini at the same time as it is being gradually rolled out in Volvo cars as an opt-in upgrade to Google Assistant. The functionality of Gemini will also evolve over time as more features are added.
When Gemini is available for your account, you will be able to opt in to use it. At a later date, Gemini will become the default voice assistant in your car.
Upgrade to Gemini in your car
To upgrade to Gemini, your car needs to be connected to the internet either via your car's built-in internet connection or mobile tethering. You also need to be signed in to Google apps and services, such as Google Play, using a Google Account.
- If you have automatic updates enabled for apps, you will receive a consent notification when Gemini becomes available for your account. If you don't have automatic updates enabled, you can check the availability of Gemini on Google Play.
- Confirm the consent notification.Your voice assistant has upgraded to Gemini.
Note
User profiles
Only the car profile currently signed in will upgrade to Gemini. Other users will need to sign in to their own car profiles to upgrade.
The opt-in is Account specific, so if you change to a different Google Account, you will need to opt in again.
