Setting up your EX30

To get the most out of your car from the beginning, it's a good idea to prepare some things in the Volvo EX30 app before your get your car.

The Volvo EX30 app will guide you through a few steps to set up your car. This includes signing in to the app, activating automatic software downloads and setting up mobile internet in the car. You will be able to do more in the app later.

Download the Volvo EX30 app

The Volvo EX30 app is available for iPhone and Android phones. You can download it for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The app is updated regularly, so make sure you have the latest version on your phone. It's also recommended to update your phone's software to the latest version.

The minimum software version required on your device to use the Volvo EX30 app is:

  • iOS 14.0
  • Android 8.0

Start by downloading the Volvo EX30 app if you haven’t already done so. Open the app and sign in with your Volvo ID. When you are signed in, you can see what you can do right now in the app.

 Note

Make sure that you have downloaded the correct app. You cannot use the regular Volvo Cars app for the Volvo EX30 car. Similarly, you cannot use the Volvo EX30 app for other car models than EX30.

Setting up your car in the Volvo EX30 app

After you have signed in to the app, it is time to set up your car. This involves giving consent to automatic software downloads and enabling mobile internet in the car1.

Go to the home tab.
Select Set up your EX30 and follow the instructions in the app.
When the set up is complete and you have received your EX30 car, you can start the process to pair the app to the car. See Connecting the Volvo EX30 app to the carfor more information.

Automatic software downloads

Automatic software downloads will give your car the latest features and software improvements for your car. Software updates will be downloaded automatically over-the-air (OTA).

Mobile internet in the car

Mobile internet in the car enables you to use third-party apps and services in the car.

 Note

You can only set up internet in the car via the Volvo EX30 app.
