Theft warning and tracking

Using GPS positioning and GSM technology, Volvo support can help you if your car is stolen.

Theft Notification1

When the car's alarm is activated, the car owner receives a message to the phone number registered with the dealer and then a push notification in the Volvo Cars app.

If you have lost track of where your car is located, you can contact Volvo support via the Volvo Cars app or phone for assistance. If it turns out that the car is being used by an unauthorised person, tracking can be started. The police are then contacted.

Stolen Vehicle Tracking (SVT)2

If theft or other unauthorised use of the car has been discovered, then the car's owner along with the police and Volvo support may agree that the car is traced.

The following then needs to be done:
The car owner contacts Volvo support, which start tracing the car.
The car owner makes a police report.
The car owner contacts Volvo support and provides the case number from the police.
Volvo support contacts the police with information on the car's position.

 Note

A condition for the car to be tracked is that the matter is reported to the police. Volvo On Call will only give information to the police.

  • XC40 from model year 2018 onwards.

  • XC60, XC60 Twin Engine/Recharge, V90 Twin Engine/Recharge and S90 Twin Engine/Recharge from model year 2018 onwards.

  • V60, V60 Twin Engine/Recharge and V60 Cross Country from model year 2019 onwards.

  • XC40 Twin Engine/Recharge Plug-in Hybrid from model year 2020 onwards.

  • S60 and S60 Twin Engine/Recharge from model year 2020 onwards.

  • C40 from model year 2022 onwards.

  • Applies to cars equipped with Volvo On Call.
