MapCare™ is a map update service for Volvo cars equipped with Sensus Navigation. This article mainly describes what the MapCare™ service involves for Volvo cars of model year 2014 (2013 week 46) and later (Life Time MapCare™).
Using MapCare™
For cars of model year 2014 (2013 week 46) and later, you have the option of free map updates online (Life Time MapCare™), see Map download for Sensus Navigation. Updates may be made 1-4 times a year (depending on region). You can also access the map updates via your Volvo dealer.
Life Time MapCare™ will be available at least until 2025.
Map updates online
To update and download maps online, a number of criteria have to be met:
- Access to a USB memory stick with sufficient space to execute the update in the car. The biggest map requires a 32 GB USB stick. For the exact map size, see detailed information for each map.
- Time to download the map to the car (approx. 1-2 hours).
- You do not have to be driving your car while you execute the update, but the ignition has to be on. If you are not driving, battery support is recommended.
Get started with map updates online
Maps are updated in two steps. First, the map is downloaded to a USB memory stick and then the map is loaded from the USB memory stick to the car. To get started, see Map download for Sensus Navigation.
Map updates in the workshop
Your Volvo dealer can help you with updating and downloading maps. Map updates are free, but the dealer may charge for the workshop time required to install the maps.
You can always contact your Volvo dealer if you have any problems with downloading maps online.
Volvos of model year before 2014
