With Volvo Selekt, how you buy your car is up to you.

Whether you prefer to complete each step online, or spend more time in store; choosing your next used car couldn’t be simpler.

Buy online with Volvo Selekt direct

1. Find your ideal used Volvo

Our Volvo Selekt website is regularly updated with the latest Approved Used models, making it easy to browse and find the car that’s right for you.

2. Choose your payment method and extras

You can pay for a Volvo Selekt direct car three different ways: in full, using a Volvo Car Purchase Plan (conditional sale), or with Volvo Car Advantage (PCP). Simply select whichever works best for you and add any extras.

3. Reserve your car

You can reserve your vehicle for a fee of £99, which will automatically take your chosen Volvo off the market while you complete your order. We’ll take the fee off the price of your car and, if you change your mind, it’ll be refunded.

4. Apply for finance

Applying for finance options is easy with Volvo Selekt direct. Simply complete your application online, and a member of the team will contact you soon afterwards to explain next steps. Not applicable to cash purchasers, who will move onto the next stage.

5. Make your payment

Once your reservation is complete and you’re accepted for finance (if applicable), we’ll be in touch by email to take your deposit or payment in full.

6. Arrange your collection or delivery

Finally, you can either collect your car from your preferred Volvo retailer or get it delivered. Your retailer will finalise everything once the car has passed all 150 checks. Remember, you need to have paid for your road tax and have two forms of ID showing your current address.

About the cars

Where do Volvo Selekt direct cars come from?

We offer an employee car scheme which is available to our own staff and immediate family. These cars come back to Volvo Car UK regularly, as our employees move on to new models.

These nearly new, generally low mileage, high specification Volvo cars are then available to purchase through Volvo Selekt direct. In fact, these cars will often have a good remainder of their original three year/60,000 mile Volvo warranty left.

What is the condition of the cars?

Volvo Selekt direct models will often be high specification models with low mileage. We put every car through 150 rigorous checks, giving them the latest software updates and ensuring they’re in a condition for you to drive away with pride.

Will my car be taxed?

No, it’s important to tax your car in advance of delivery. You can tax your car online here.

Reserving your car

Do I have to reserve to buy the car I want?

Yes. The first step in ordering your Selekt direct Volvo is to reserve the car online for £99. This will remove the car from the website and allow you to complete the order secure in the knowledge the car is yours.

If you change your mind or we don’t hear from you, we’ll refund your £99 and put the car back on sale. If you complete your order, we’ll take the £99 off the price of your Volvo.

How does the reservation fee work?

When you reserve your Approved Used Volvo, you pay a refundable £99 to take it off sale for 72 hours. This gives you time to complete your order without worrying that someone else might buy your chosen car first.

If you change your mind, you can just let us know. We’ll refund your £99 to the payment card you used and put your car back on sale.

If you continue to complete your order, we’ll take the £99 off the total cost of your car.

Trying out your car

Can I test drive the cars?

Volvo Selekt direct gives you the freedom to purchase a nearly new Volvo online in a simple and convenient way.

For now, this means test driving the exact car available on our website is not possible. However, if you’d like to test a similar model to the one you’re viewing, check your local retailer’s stock via our website, or speak with them directly to arrange a close match for you to try.

How do I arrange to go and see the car?

You won’t be able to see the exact car before you purchase it. But the Volvo Selekt direct website gives you detailed information and high-quality images of all the available cars.

Part exchange

How long does it take to get a part exchange valuation?

We can give you an instant valuation based on the information you give us about your car. Just enter your registration number, then we’ll ask you a few additional questions about your car, its condition and any outstanding finance.

At the end of the valuation, it’s entirely up to you whether you want to go ahead with the part exchange or not.

Pricing and payments

What’s the difference between “APR” and “fixed rate of interest PA”?

The APR, or “Annual Percentage Rate”, tells how much you’ll be charged yearly on the money that you still owe. So it takes into account parts of your loan that you’ve already paid off.

The “fixed rate of interest PA” instead, is yearly interest charged based on the original value of the loan – so it doesn’t take into account how much of the loan you’ve paid off.

We include both in our finance tables to give you a complete picture of the proposal. But, as a general rule, APR is a clearer, more universal way to compare different deals and better understand the cost of borrowing.

Does the Annual Percentage Rate (APR) change based on my deposit?

No, the APR for financing an Approved Used Volvo is fixed.

What does “set a monthly price” mean?

If you’d like to search for a car based on your budget or preferred finance options, you can choose to set a monthly price that’s right for you and look at what’s available. You can then tailor your finance package with the options that suit you best.

Can I negotiate on price?

We do everything we can to make sure all of our Volvo Selekt Direct cars are priced accurately, taking into account mileage, specification, age and much more. Because of this, all prices are final.

As well as driving away a high-quality used Volvo, you’ll also get a range of benefits to give you complete peace of mind – for example, the remainder of the car’s three year/60,000 mile new Volvo warranty, 12 months of Volvo Roadside Assistance and a 30 day satisfaction guarantee.

How do I pay?

Once you’ve reserved your Volvo and you’ve been accepted for finance (if applicable), one of our Volvo Selekt direct team will be in touch about taking your payment.

We’ll send you all the details you need to pay us via bank transfer. We’ll confirm receipt of your payment once we can see it in our bank account.

Delivery and handover

How do I get the car?

You can choose either to have it delivered to your home (mainland UK only) or to collect it from your nearest Volvo retailer.

Soon after you’ve paid your full payment or finance deposit and your order is confirmed, a dedicated member of our team – your Virtual Sales Manager – will be in touch to arrange a handover date and location that’s convenient for you.

We’ll then deliver the car to your local Volvo retailer, who will be in touch to finalise the handover arrangements once your Volvo has passed all its pre-delivery checks and inspections.

Of course, our Volvo Selekt team will also be on hand via phone or email to help at any time.

How does delivery work?

Whether you choose delivery or collection, we’ll send the car to your local Volvo retailer. Their team will then be in touch to arrange the details of your delivery.

You just need to make sure that you’re around to accept your car on that date, as we can’t hand over the keys to anyone else. You’ll also need to make sure you’ve paid your road tax and have two forms of original ID (your driving license and a recent utility bill) with your current address on.

Where can I get my car delivered?

Currently, we can only deliver to mainland UK addresses.

It’s important to note that if you’ve financed your car, you’ll need to have it delivered to your home address on the application. And if you pay by cash, you’ll need to have the car delivered to your home or office address.

How soon will my car be delivered?

It depends on where you’re based ­ currently, delivery is to the mainland UK only and we aim to deliver Volvo Selekt direct cars around 15 days after receiving your payment.

Your Virtual Sales Manager will be in touch to keep you updated at every stage of the delivery process.

Will I need to pay for delivery?

No – whether you choose collection or delivery, there’ll be no extra cost. We’ll send your car to your local Volvo retailer, who will prepare it and deliver it to you for free.

There are no hidden charges when you buy through Volvo Selekt direct.

What ID do I need for my handover?

You’ll need your driving license and a utility bill or bank statement dated from the last three months – both stating your current address. This should be the address you used for your order and your finance agreement.

Changing your mind

What if I change my mind about the car?

Of course, we hope you find your ideal Volvo and you’re happy with everything it offers, but we understand that your plans might change.

If you change your mind before your handover, just let us know. We’ll refund your payment and put the car back on sale. If you used a finance option to buy, check the guidance in the next section.

After your delivery, you have up to 14 days to return your car for a refund (if you paid in full). Plus, our satisfaction guarantee gives you up to 30 days or 1,500 miles to exchange your car for a different model. Terms and conditions apply.

What if I’m on a finance plan and I change my mind?

Depending on what kind of finance plan you’re on, you’ll have different options to end your agreement early.

What happens to my part exchange car if I change my mind?

It depends on when during the process you change your mind.

During the initial order, you can remove your part exchange at any time during the process.

If your handover has already taken place, unfortunately we won’t be able to reunite you with your part exchanged car.

If something goes wrong

What do I do if something goes wrong?

We want you to enjoy many years and many miles with your Approved Used Volvo. If something goes wrong, remember your Volvo Selekt direct car will still have the remainder of its three year/60,000 mile new Volvo warranty. Plus, you’ll get 12 months of Volvo Roadside Assistance for your peace of mind.

When you buy through Volvo Selekt, you’ll get the full support of our dedicated Customer Care team, plus all our Volvo retailers and service centres across the UK. So we’ll be on hand to help if anything goes wrong after your delivery. Just give us a call and we’ll do everything we can.

Lastly, remember that you’ll also have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee where you can exchange your car for another Approved Used Volvo if you’re not completely happy with it.

What if I don’t agree with the valuation of my car?

To make sure you get a fair valuation (and not an opinion-based valuation) for your part exchange, we use a third-party who provide us with the data to value your car based on the information you give us.

At the end of the valuation process, you can always choose not to add the part exchange to your purchase if you’re unhappy with the valuation.

Remember, your part exchange will be checked on delivery. If you’ve accurately described your part exchange, the value offered to you will be the value you receive.
