The Volvo Ocean Race is the world's most gruelling ocean adventure taking nearly nine months to sail 39,000 nautical miles of the globe's most treacherous seas. With five months to go before the ships set sail from Alicante, Volvo can announce prices for the special edition Volvo V70, XC70 and XC90 Ocean Race models with first customer cars expected in July. People who want to look the part too can now buy official Volvo Ocean Race clothing and merchandise by PUMA.

Volvo V70, XC70 and XC90 Ocean Race

The eye-catching Volvo Ocean Race Models start at £1,000 above the SE Specification for the XC70 and XC90 and £1,500 above for the V70. Prices for the Volvo V70 start at £26,795 for the 2.0F and £26,995 for the 2.0D, while prices start at £32,035 for the XC70 D5 and £36,345 for XC90 D5.  The special edition Volvo Ocean Race models are available with a full range of engines¹.

 A unique Ocean Blue pearlescent paint immediately differentiates the Volvo Ocean Race editions from the standard models, which are also available in Electric Silver. The appearance is further enhanced with a new, more exclusively designed Volvo Ocean Race emblem and chrome exterior details. All the cars feature full Ocean Race leather upholstery and are available in Soft Beige or Off Black with the centre console and other details in silk matt aluminium inlays.

A vibrant orange is the dominant colour that keeps popping up across the range of the new sailing-themed 'Life at the Extreme' Volvo Ocean Race official merchandise. ¹ XC90 Volvo Ocean Race is not available with the V8 engine

The race begins on 4 October 2008 with an in-port race in Alicante, Spain and departs on the first leg on 11 October. The finishing line is in St Petersburg, Russia, on 27 June 2009.  Consisting of 10 legs there are stops in Cape Town (South Africa), Cochin (India), Singapore, Qingdao (China), Brazil (Rio de Janeiro), Boston (USA), Galway (Ireland), Göteborg (Sweden) and Stockholm (Sweden).  The 2008-09 event also includes an in-port race in most of the stopovers.
