The EX40 has impressed owners with its safety credentials
At the inaugural Electric Road UK EV Owners Poll Awards, Summer 2026, thousands of owner submissions were analysed, with the Volvo EX40 claiming the top spot in the Medium-Sized EV category for cars with the best Safety Features.
Electric Road reported that "An impressive 80% of owners selected ‘Safety Features’ as being a standout aspect of their vehicle," showing the clear prioritisation of safety technology by consumers.
Volvo is renowned for its history of industry-leading safety technology, having been the first company to fit the three-point safety belt as standard in its cars. It has been 70 years since Volvo first introduced the seatbelt to the European market in its 1956 Amazon prototype, and in 2026, still remains dedicated to pioneering technology to keep occupants and other road users safe.
The fully electric EX40 offers a smooth, sophisticated driving experience, packed full of features including intelligent safety assistance, lane correction, and a blind spot information system. We are delighted to see this focus on safety is well-recognised by Volvo drivers with this award win.
