Volvo XC40, EX40 and EC40 with refreshed exterior design
The Volvo XC40, EX40 and EC40 updates range from exterior and interior design to infotainment, advanced driver assistance and active safety.
A refreshed exterior design gives the new 40 series models a more contemporary presence, including a new look for the Thor’s Hammer Matrix LED headlights, an upgraded grille, redesigned front bumper, bonnet and front wings.
At the rear, the XC40 and EX40 feature new LED rear lights, an upgraded tailgate, and a redesigned rear bumper, while the EC40 retains its distinctive rear design. The XC40 also comes with new 18 inch, 19-inch and 20-inch diamond cut wheels.
“By enhancing the design, technology and safety features of our 40 series cars’, we've created the best versions of our 40 series yet,” says Akhil Krishnan, Interim lead for the 30 and 40 series at Volvo Cars. “These already popular models are now set to continue being among our best-selling cars for years to come.”
Intuitive and versatile on the inside
The interior is upgraded with a new, larger and crisper 11.2-inch screen, making interacting with the car faster and easier, with fewer taps needed to access key functions, so drivers can focus on the journey ahead.
Featuring Google Gemini, the next-generation AI assistant from Google, the new 40 series models effortlessly allow you to plan journeys, find great stops, and manage messages on the move.
The upgraded Scandinavian-inspired interior combines smart storage space and an updated wireless phone charger, to make life on the road more convenient.
The cabin updates also include new premium upholstery and decor options. For the first time, XC40 customers can opt for Arianne Cardamom leather upholstery paired with Brown Ash wood decor elements across the interior. The car also features refined cabin illumination plus the option of Black Ash or aluminium decor.

Built on Volvo Cars' pioneering safety knowledge from real-world research, the new 40 series cars combine advanced safety technologies to help prevent collisions and protect people by choosing the safest action in the moment.
Drivers can feel more confident behind the wheel with new front and corner radars, a new front camera, new rear corner radars, 12 new ultrasonic sensors and new parking cameras.
