Setting up Trips for your car

Trips automatically logs all journeys made with your car. To start logging journeys, you first need to enable Trips and turn on location sharing.

Note

The availability of Trips can vary depending on car model, model year and region. Available functions may also vary over time.

This article is applicable to models with Google built-in.

To use Trips, make sure you have the Trips app downloaded in the centre display. When Trips is enabled, the app automatically collects your car's VIN[1], location and other trip-related data, such as time, distance, fuel and electric consumption. You can view the trips log in both the Volvo Cars app and the Trips app in your car.

Note

Make sure that your car, the Volvo Cars app and the Trips app have the newest software version installed.

You can check your car's software version via settings in the centre display.

Setting up trips

You can set up trips via the centre display.

  1. Press the app library symbol in the bottom bar.
  2. Open the Trips app.
  3. Turn on the Trips log.
  4. Consent to the privacy permissions and enable location sharing.
You are now all set for your trips to be logged.

Note

Enabling trips via the Volvo Cars app

You can also turn on the Trips log via the Volvo Cars app. However, you still need to consent to privacy permissions and enable location sharing via your car's centre display.

Viewing trips

When Trips is enabled, all users that have paired the Volvo Cars app with the car can see the trips. If Trips is disabled, the car stops sending information about new trips.

Information about a trip is stored for 400 days.

Profiles

Trips needs to be enabled separately for each profile using the car. This includes enabling consent and permissions.
