The new Volvo S60

Distinctive details enhance the powerful character of the S60 and identify it as one of the new generation of Volvo cars. The prominent front grille wears its Volvo emblem proudly, while the long bonnet and deep front bumper express power. Full LED headlights with Volvo Cars’ unique T-shaped light signature create an unmistakable presence, day or night. At the rear, the boot edge kicks upwards for a sportier attitude and better aerodynamics at speed.

The S60 offers a choice of drive modes, so you can tailor the driving experience to your journey or your mood. There are three default settings for the engine, automatic gearbox, steering, brakes and stability control system that put the focus on dynamic driving, comfort or fuel economy and emissions. Or you can create your own combination with Individual mode. In plug-in hybrid models an AWD mode is also available.

The optional Four-C active chassis is an electronically controlled damping system that gives you even greater control over how the S60 responds. This innovation constantly assesses the current road conditions and your driving style, and adapts the shock absorbers to provide the best balance of comfort and control. When switching between the car’s drive modes the Four-C system also adjusts the suspension characteristics, so the car always behaves exactly the way you want it to.

The S60 is tailored for a spirited drive. The sleek centre display with touch screen is your intuitive command centre, while unique air vents have slender, metal-finished controls with diamond-pattern finishes. The same finish is used for the starter knob, driving mode controller and steering wheel controls. R-Design trim highlights the athletic nature of the car, with Metal Mesh Aluminium décor panels and contrast stitching for the seats, tunnel console, doors and gearshift gaiter. Inscription trim includes decor panels in Driftwood, a unique wood treatment.

A centre display with touch screen is at the heart the effortless way that you connect with the S60. It has a portrait format that makes reading information easy and reduces scrolling, while the 9-inch screen has a special non-reflective coating and is so responsive you can even use it while wearing gloves.

The S60 T6 Twin Engine and T8 Twin Engine models have plug-in hybrid powertrains that give you exceptional performance, versatility and efficiency, supplied by the combination of a four-cylinder petrol engine driving. Whatever your need, the S60 Twin Engine models offer a Drive Mode to suit. Pure mode provides enough zero-emissions electric power for the average daily commute, while Power mode ensures the most powerful response. Default Hybrid mode chooses between the power sources, or combines them, to keep you moving as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

Smart technology and seamless smartphone integration lets you effortlessly enjoy your favourite music and podcasts in the S60. The integrated Spotify app means there’s no need to connect your phone. Support for Apple CarPlay allows you to link an Apple iPhone, while Android Auto is also supported. The car’s intuitive centre touch screen, or simple voice control, is all you need to access a world of entertainment. The Sensus Connect package gives you access to a range of additional apps that mean you can enjoy internet radio and audiobooks in your S60.

Bowers & Wilkins audio is the top-level sound system for the S60. Total output is 1100 watts to 15 speakers, while three different room modes – Studio, Individual Stage and Gothenburg Concert Hall – allow you to tailor the sound to your music or mood. Details such as stainless steel speaker panels, Bowers & Wilkins logos and distinctive yellow speaker cones create an exclusive visual impression. The system features a unique air-ventilated subwoofer that is built into the body of the car to create precise, powerful bass tones.

Pilot Assist is a support function that helps make driving in heavy traffic less tiring. This Driver Assistance System builds on the active cruise control function – so as well as keeping a set speed and distance to the vehicle in front of you, it also uses steering inputs to keep you in the centre of your lane. Pilot Assist works at speeds up to 130km/h, helping to reduce the effort required when driving on busy highways.

City Safety is a Volvo Cars innovation that helps to protect people inside and outside the S60 by spotting potential danger and helping you avoid it. Radar and camera technology identifies other vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and large animals ahead, day or night. City Safety warns you if it detects an imminent collision and, if you don’t react in time, it can automatically apply the brakes to help avoid or mitigate a collision. In the S60, City Safety also includes Steering Support, which helps you to steer away from danger as effectively and safely as possible.

Give the S60 your own look. For an even more purposeful presence, add an exterior styling kit that includes front and rear splitters, sill mouldings, a rear diffuser and integrated split tail pipes that create a powerful impression.
