WHAT IS HD RADIO TECHNOLOGY?
• HD Radio Technology is your local AM and FM stations, broadcasting with digital signals. Now, with an HD Radio equipped radio in your new Volvo, you will receive extra channels on your FM radio dial that older analog radios do not deliver. HD Radio technology also upgrades the sound quality in your car with digital, CD-like audio quality. AM sound quality is also dramatically improved. Further, the song title and artist name will appear on your HD Radio equipped radio dial. All of these benefits are 100% SUBSCRIPTION FREE.
• Across the United States, there are nearly 2,000 AM and FM stations now broadcasting with HD Radio Technology, and more than 900 new extra local FM channels are additionally available. The extra FM channels are known as HD2s and HD3s. You will find them on the FM dial adjacent to the channels you are accustomed to in your local community. Many communities have as many as 15 – 20 extra HD2 and HD3 channels on the air today for your enjoyment.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
• You use an HD Radio equipped Volvo radio as you would any radio. What you get is very different! The difference is due to the fact that HD Radio receivers utilize state of the art digital technology to send you radio content that has been enhanced. Therefore, you receive more channels, text information on your radio display and CD-like audio quality. The only difference is that on your FM dial, you will have new extra channels.
• Because the digital signal is compressed, when it is received by an HD Radio receiver, multiple channels, each with unique programming, with more music news and sports to choose from are available. These are called HD2 and HD3 channels. They are located adjacent to the channels in your local market you have always listened to and are indicated on the dial by “-2” or “-3”.
• Because the radio broadcast is now digital, sound quality is significantly superior than traditional analog radio. Buzzing, static and popping are a thing of the past. Additionally, information about what you are listening to will scroll on your radio dial – such as song title and artist name.
