October results: 21% sales jump for Volvo Car Australia, 6.9% globally

So far in 2022, Volvo Car Australia has recorded a more than 11 per cent increase in sales compared to 2021.

Volvo Car Australia sold 721 cars in October this year, a 21 per cent leap from the same month in 2021 that puts the company 11.6 per cent ahead of last year’s sales year to date.


In October last year, 593 Volvo cars were sold. In the 10 months to October 2021, there were 7,932 sold - this year, that same number is 8,852.


The Volvo XC40 was the second-highest selling small SUV over $40,000 - there were 373 sold in the month.


The strong sales month for Volvo Car Australia comes as global sales rose 6.9 per cent year-on-year to 54,317 cars in October. Demand for Volvo cars remains robust, especially for the Recharge range of pure electric and plug-in hybrid cars.


The Volvo XC40 was the second-highest selling small SUV over $40,000 - there were 373 sold in the month.

Recharge models represented 36.8 per cent of the sales last month, with fully electric vehicles accounting for 15 per cent of total sales.


During the January-October period, Volvo Cars retail sales reached 483,304 cars, down 16.9 per cent compared to the same period last year.


Volvo Cars’ top selling model for the month was the XC60 with sales of 17,531 cars (2021: 15,399 units), followed by the XC40 at 14,883 cars (2021: 13,987) and the XC90 at 7,651 cars (2021: 8,639 units).
