Influencer families meet Volvo’s family of influencers

What happens when a select group of influencers meets a select group of luxury family cars? Lots of likes – and not just from their kids.

Volvo XC90

A few weeks ago, Volvo whisked away a select group of family influencers to meet an influential family of its own: The line of up new and newly refreshed models now writing their own adventure stories across Australia.

The short version? They loved it – and so did their kids. What’s not to love about a luxury escape in the Southern Highlands, carried effortlessly in a brand new Volvo XC90? Even if they feel the urge to kick, the kids’ feet can’t reach the front seats…

The families also got up close and personal with Volvo’s refreshed XC60 as well as the all-electric EX30 and EX40 – and a first look at the svelte ES90. The kids seemed drawn to the light reflecting in the huge, shiny rims.

But it was the XC90 that made the running, with the journey as much the adventure as the destination.

“It is a very easy car to drive; as an inner-city girl I’m used to smaller cars but kids mean you need the space, so I’m more than happy to drive a bigger car if it means extra tech, driving smarts and room for picnics in the boot.”

The reaction

Model and lifestyle influencer Chantelle Stanton is ready to go again.

She loves the XC90’s “light filled interiors, seamless tech, and safety features that give you total peace of mind on every drive. Made for moments like this! Big adventures made effortless. Already planning our next trip!”

We Don’t Have Time For This podcaster Katie Reeves loved the space, the light, the smoothness and the booster seat. Meanwhile, “the sound system gave me goosebumps”. She’s working on how to make time to acquire one. Per Reeves: “Honestly, I don’t know how I am supposed to live my life without this car now.”

Art director Talisa Sutton, the co-founder of Badlands Studio and Badlands Journal, was likewise impressed: “The New XC90 is spacious, safe, stylish, and makes travelling with the kids a breeze. With sleek Scandinavian-inspired interiors, a built-in booster seat, generous boot space and the latest in technology and safety features, we couldn’t have asked for a smoother ride,” she wrote. “I’m so grateful to get to make special memories like this with the kids.”

Fashion writer, consultant and influencer Zara Wong is also a big fan of the space, comfort and style – and equally grateful, given long journeys and young children aren’t always as Instagram compatible:

“I’d *like* to claim to be a calm parent, but usually, road trips with kids test that theory for me. This time, though, @volvocarau’s New XC90 assuaged all fears; there’s so much space (no kicking the backs of seats) and the panoramic roof was an excellent no-screen distraction,” she wrote.

“We drove from Sydney to Swallow’s Nest to feed cows and collect chicken eggs, before a sunset dinner at Caoura Cliffs and overnight getaway to Osborn House. I’d say this was pretty ambitious but I was genuinely impressed how comfortable it was – it’s a 7-seater that’s like a Scandi living room on wheels for everyone who DM’d me asking how it was.

After more than a decade working with the likes of Australia Harper’s BAZAAR and Australian Vogue, Wong has a highly attuned appreciation of high-end luxury. Hence her equally attuned car choices.

“While this is an #ad and I loaned the car over the weekend, I already was a Volvo driver. They’re stylish, understated, safe and smooth and the 360 degree parking camera always gets comments. It’s great to see the improvements beyond my several-years-old XC40; it’s so much quieter and the Google built-in makes it so much easier to use. I’m officially a New XC90 convert.”
