Electric vehicles powered a bumper month for Volvo Cars globally while Volvo Car Australia posted its best ever monthly sales figures.

The company’s total worldwide sales spiked 33 per cent in June, with electric vehicle sales more than quadrupling versus the same period last year.

Easing of supply chain challenges, which have hampered the broader automotive industry’s post-Covid recovery, helped drive the result.

Sales in Australia continue to climb, standing at 1,304 units in June, the best monthly result in the company’s history. For the first six months of the year, sales totalled 6,290.

The arrival of the new all-electric EX30 small SUV early next year, followed by the seven-seater Volvo EX90, look set to take the company’s Australian EV sales beyond 50 per cent in 2024.

Electric vehicle sales continue to gain momentum, making up 36 per cent of all new Volvo Car Australia registrations in the first half. That compares to circa 14 per cent across 2022.

The all-electric version of the Volvo Car Australia’s best selling model, the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, is so far driving the lion’s share of EV sales, with 1,596 sold to the end of June. Unit sales for the all-electric C40 Recharge stand at 685 for the year to date.
