Australia’s latest car safety testing data confirms that Volvo’s flagship electric vehicle, the EX90, is the safest in its class, and one of the safest cars on the road full stop.
The EX90 scored higher than any other car tested by the independent safety authority on adult occupant protection (92 per cent). For child occupant protection, the EX90 was rated even higher (94 per cent).
ANCAP said the EX90 was among a select band of vehicles that “set the benchmark” for car safety – both for those inside the car and those outside.
“ANCAP’s testing continues to reinforce a clear message: the safest vehicles are those designed with safety as a system, not a checklist,” said ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Carla Hoorweg.
“Improvements in autonomous emergency braking, lane support and driver monitoring systems are translating into more robust protection in everyday driving.”
“The top performers this year delivered consistent results across physical crash protection, crash avoidance and vulnerable road user safety, rather than relying on strength in a single area.

ANCAP’s highlighting of the cars tested to be the safest on Australian and New Zealand roads, added Hoorweg, gives “consumers clearer choices when safety is a priority.”
Volvo has consistently stated that the EX90 is designed to be the safest car it has ever made.
ANCAP’s findings underline that belief.
