Volvo’s EX40, the all-electric version of the XC40, is now earning similar accolades and was recently crowned Wheels’ best electric small SUV of 2025.

The judges at Wheels, published by Which Car? ran the rule over more than a dozen electric SUV rivals – but there was only one winner.

“Overall this is a stand-out in the segment,” Wheels’ experts concluded. “It’s handsome, practical, good to drive, well equipped and even though it’s on the pricier side, the long list of equipment helps to justify the cost.”
