Australia’s motoring press tool the all-electric EX60 for a test drive. Now they want more – and think everyone else will too.

EX60

The Volvo EX60 — CarExpert’s pick for Australia’s best luxury EV.
Australia’s motoring press took the all electric Swedish-made Volvo EX60 for a test drive last month. Here’s the verdict:
“Smarter, faster, safer.”
“Feels like a performance model.”
“Quieter, more considered.”
“Clever details are everywhere.”
“The safety technology is class-leading.”
“Blissfully quiet inside.”
“It’s good, very good.”
“Everything is elegant.”
“The visibility is excellent and the safety systems reassuring without being intrusive.”
“Slips through traffic with an ease that feels at odds with its proportions.”
“An impressive car with an impressive price. You can’t get the equivalent Audi, BMW or Mercedes for less.”
“There’s a lot to like about the new 2027 Volvo EX60 and it very much feels like a step-change for the brand – something entirely new and surprisingly engaging.”
“It has the potential not just to be Volvo’s best-selling model or most popular electric car, but also scope to curry favour with more mainstream buyers who might previously have thought such luxury unattainable.”
Worth the wait
Suffice to say, the road testers at Carsales, Drive, Marie Claire and more were impressed. But they also want to test the car on Australian soil – the first test drives were in Spain, where the Volvo EX60 launched in June. Which means waiting a few more months.
Volvo Cars is confident the EX60 will be worth the wait. It delivers class leading range (up to 660km*); charging speeds (coffee-stop quick, up to 315km in as little as 10 minutes**); safety (including a new multi adaptive seatbelt); luxury (it’s a Volvo); and tech (an AI assistant and an incredibly powerful computing core). It also gets better over time thanks to over-the-air updates.
Importantly for families, it also packs a generous boot, with up to 1647 litres of cargo space – if needed – by folding up the seats.
Inside the car epitomises understated Scandinavian luxury, with the comfort and quality for which Volvo is globally renowned – for the rear occupants just as much as those in the front.
As Marie Claire editor Georgie McCourt puts it: the EX60 is “the electric family SUV Australia has been waiting for”.
