There’s so much plastic in the ocean that scientists say it’s simply not feasible to remove it all, and we’ve lost much of the natural shoreline to coastal development. Solving environmental problems like these requires divergent thinking and collaboration.
That’s why Volvo Car Australia built the Living Seawall in partnership with the Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS) and REEF DESIGN LAB.
Built with concrete reinforced with 100 percent recycled plastic fibres, the Living Seawall aids biodiversity and attracts filter-feeding organisms that absorb and filter out pollutants, helping to keep the water ‘clean’.
