Activating data sharing for connected services and downloaded apps through the settings menu

You can activate data sharing for connected services and downloaded apps through the settings menu in your center display.

Activating data sharing when starting a connected service or app

If you have not activated data sharing for a connected service or for downloaded apps, you can do this when starting them in your center display. The first time you start a service, or after e.g. a factory reset or certain software updates, you must also accept Volvo's terms and conditions for connected services.

Data sharing settings for Volvo On Call

Data sharing for the Volvo On Call service is activated as default. This means that you do not have to activate data sharing for this service when you buy a new vehicle or after e.g. a factory reset.

Settings for privacy and data sharing are unique for each driver profile

When you begin to use a new driver profile, the data sharing settings for the profile are set to the vehicle's default settings and are deactivated.

Privacy and data sharing

Many connected services and apps need to be able to send and receive information and data. The data sharing function for your connected services and apps is deactivated as default. To use certain connected services and apps in the vehicle, you must manually activate data sharing for them.

Tips when using a Bluetooth connection

If the connection or functionality between your vehicle and your Bluetooth device is not working as expected, the following tips may be of help.

Connect to the Internet via mobile phone (Bluetooth)

If your Volvo is equipped with Sensus Connect, it is possible to create an Internet connection via your mobile phone. For this to work, your mobile phone needs to be equipped with Bluetooth® and support tethering.

To use the connected functions in the Volvo Cars app, the vehicle must have a subscription for connected services. The subscription includes emergency assistance and security services as well as app services. Vehicles equipped with Google built in are delivered with a subscription for digital services, which provides access to connected functions in the Volvo Cars app as well as additional services. The subscription is valid for 4 years.

Extending a subscription

To use the connected functions in the Volvo Cars app, the vehicle must have a subscription for connected services. You can choose between different time periods when you extend or reactivate your subscription for connected services.Vehicles equipped with Google built in are delivered with a subscription for digital services, which provides access to connected functions in the Volvo Cars app as well as additional services. The subscription is valid for 4 years.

with Sensus Connect PIN

The PIN code is used in the Volvo Cars app to verify that a person is authorized to use connected services in a particular vehicle.No PIN code is used for vehicles with Google built in.

Availability for connected services

The vehicle's systems that have contact with the Volvo Cars app are programmed to shut down when the vehicle is not used for extended periods of time.

Change of ownership of a vehicle with connected services

When the vehicle changes owners, there are several steps that need to be carried out to disconnect the previous owner and allow the new owner to connect the Volvo Cars app to the vehicle.
