Volvo V90 model year 2026 - Overview
The Volvo V90 is Volvo’s 5-door, 5-seat large premium estate. It is built on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), Volvo Cars’ advanced modular product platform that underpins all Volvo cars in the 90 and 60 Series.
Building on Volvo Cars’ heritage in the estate segment that began over 60 years ago with the Volvo Duett, the V90 takes the premium estate a clear step forward in terms of aesthetics, materials and finish, while living up to the ultimately practical nature of estate cars.
Like its sibling, the XC90, the V90 carries the proud and confident face of Volvo’s design language, along with classic styling cues. Key features include the iconic Thor’s Hammer LED headlight design. The interior of the Volvo V90 radiates Scandinavian design at its very best, with clean lines, exquisite detailing and genuine materials. The advanced air purifier system prevents up to 95 per cent of hazardous PM 2.5 particles from entering the cabin. No matter the conditions outside, the solution can help occupants enjoy better and healthier air quality, while having the possibility to monitor particle and pollen levels outside the car.
Connectivity and infotainment
The Volvo V90 comes equipped with an infotainment system jointly developed with Google featuring built-in Google apps and services*. Intuitive and convenient, this next generation infotainment system offers customers unprecedented personalisation and an unparalleled, which is further enhanced through access to unlimited mobile data (for in-car apps and vehicle communication) for 4 years.
For model year 2026, the V90 was one of the last Volvo models to come equipped with the new Volvo Car UX. It’s designed to be a safe and enjoyable way to interact with your car’s central infotainment screen, more focused and personalised than its predecessor. A further upgrade to the car includes the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, making our existing Google Android Auto-based infotainment system much faster and much more responsive. The infotainment system in these models will be more than twice as fast as the outgoing system, with graphics generation that is up to 10 times faster.
The Volvo V90 receives larger software and operating system updates over the air. This enables the car to keep evolving and improving over time, rather than being at its peak when it leaves the factory.
Powertrain technology
The V90 is powered by Volvo’s latest generation plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers 350 (T6) or 455hp (T8). It features an 18.8kWh battery pack that extends the pure electric possibilities.
Powered by the 145hp motor, the V90 T6 and T8 provide up to 57 miles ** (WLTP Combined) of pure electric range – an upgrade that enables more drivers to cover their daily driving needs on electricity.
With One Pedal Drive, the driver can use the accelerator both for accelerating and braking the car: press for acceleration and lift the pedal for smooth braking all the way to standstill.
More details around the powertrain offer can be found in the technical specifications.
Safety and driver assistance
The V90 showcases Volvo Cars’ focus on automotive safety: the SPA platform has yielded the strongest Volvo cars to date thanks to the extensive use of boron steel, and it comes with numerous safety systems designed to protect people inside and outside the car.
The V90 is equipped with Volvo Cars’ latest Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) sensor platform – a modern, scalable active safety system that consists of an array of radars, cameras and ultrasonic sensors.
This platform enables the development and deployment of active safety systems, such as the detection of other road users, automatic braking and collision avoidance. Through the Pilot Assist function, it also allows for gentle driver support from standstill up to highway speeds.
