VOLVO CAR USA RETAILER PRIVACY POLICY

SCOPE AND PURPOSE

This Privacy Policy describes the privacy practices of Volvo Car USA LLC (referred to as “Volvo Car USA”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) with respect to the personal information we collect when you engage with an authorized Volvo Car retailer (“Retailer”). This Privacy Policy sets forth:

  • information we collect and why;
  • how we share your information; and
  • your rights about this use and sharing.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the Retailers’ own privacy practices or third parties to whom you directly provide your information including, but not limited to, subscription services, insurance companies, or other third parties who may offer special rates or products to Volvo Car USA customers, nor to content posted on social media channels. These entities are independent of Volvo Car USA and responsible for their own collection of information. Please refer directly to those entities and their particular privacy policies for more information.

INFORMATION WE COLLECT AND WHY

Volvo Car USA collects certain personal information about you when you engage with a Retailer or when the Retailer uses our digital applications for their business purposes. “Personal information” is information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is capable of being associated with, or could be reasonably linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer, household or device.

When you:

  1. Purchase or Lease a Volvo Vehicle

    : We collect from the Retailer your identifiers (such as your first and last name, mailing address, telephone number, and E-mail address, and your Vehicle Identification Number (“VIN”)) and your purchase history (such as your ownership period, whether you have a warranty, any subscription services in which you are enrolled, and the model and year of your vehicle and corresponding vehicle specifications). We use this personal information to support the Retailer in facilitating the purchase or lease of your vehicle, keep you informed of the status of your vehicle, create an account with us, communicate with you, notify you of vehicle recalls and other matters related to product quality and safety, and connect your vehicle with devices, applications, and infotainment services.
  2. Give Your Consent for Volvo Car USA to Further Contact You

    : We collect from you your identifiers (such as your first and last name, mailing address, telephone number, email address, and VIN) and your purchase history (such as your ownership record, whether you have a warranty, any subscription services in which you are enrolled, and the model and year of your vehicle and corresponding vehicle specifications). We use this information to send you marketing materials, track customer satisfaction, and give you additional information about our products and services that may be of interest to you.
  3. Instruct the Retailer to Contact Us on Your Behalf

    : If you are a current or prospective customer, we collect from the Retailer your identifiers (such as your first and last name, email address, and telephone number, and VIN) and, if you are a current customer, your purchase history (such as your ownership record, whether you have a warranty, any subscription services in which you are enrolled, and the model and year of your vehicle and corresponding vehicle specifications). We use this information to respond to your request.

When the Retailer uses our digital applications to:

  1. Submit Your Parts Order, Service Order, or Accessory Purchase

    : We collect from the Retailer your identifiers (such as your first and last name, email address, telephone number, and VIN), your purchase history (such as what part or accessory you are purchasing, what service you have requested, the model and year of your vehicle and corresponding vehicle specifications), and your financial information (such as your credit card or debit card number or similar financial information). We use this information to process your parts and accessory purchases or to fulfil a repair or service order for your vehicle.
  2. Submit Your Warranty Claim

    : We collect from the Retailer your identifiers (such as your first and last name, email address, telephone number, and VIN) and your purchase history (such as your ownership period, whether you have a warranty, and the model and year of your vehicle and corresponding vehicle specifications). We use this information to review your warranty claim request for eligibility and, if you are eligible, process your warranty claim.
  3. Schedule the Delivery or Turn-in of Your Vehicle

    : We collect from the Retailer your identifiers (such as your first and last name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, and VIN) your purchase history (such as the model and year of your vehicle and corresponding vehicle specifications). We use this information to facilitate your delivery (both within the U.S. and deliveries under our Overseas Delivery Program) or turn-in and track the status of your vehicle.

Sharing of personal information for a business purpose within the preceding 12 months.

In the preceding 12 months we have shared with our Retailers:

  1. At your request, your identifiers and purchase history to provide you with our products and services, allow the Retailer to communicate with you when you submit a vehicle sales lead, respond to one of our sales and marketing campaigns, or request the Retailer contact you regarding an inquiry or complaint received by Volvo Customer Care.
  2. Your identifiers and purchase history to provide, or in anticipation of providing, a vehicle repair covered by a vehicle warranty, or to conduct a recall.
  3. Your location information, such as the physical location or movements of your vehicle, collected through our connected vehicle applications (such as Volvo on Call or Volvo Valet) to provide you with vehicle towing and roadside repair services as requested by you. Sale of personal information within the preceding 12 months

When you purchase or lease a Volvo vehicle equipped with a SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Volvo Car USA gives you a 3-month trial subscription of SiriusXM’s “All Access” audio package. To provide you the trial subscription, we share your identifiers (first and last name, mailing address, telephone number, E-mail address, and VIN) with SiriusXM for SiriusXM’s account management and marketing purposes.

Under California law, California residents have the right to opt out of this sharing. To do so, please see Do Not Sell My Personal Information. Opting-out will not prevent you from listening to your 3-month trial subscription in your vehicle but it will limit your ability to manage your subscription, access your subscription online, receive customer service from SiriusXM and it will suppress your personal information from being used by SiriusXM for its own marketing purposes.

This opt-out is related to the personal information shared prior to the expiration of your 3-month trial subscription and is not applicable to audio packages or subscriptions you purchase directly from SiriusXM. YOUR RIGHTS UNDER CALIFORNIA LAW

Under California law, consumers residing in California are granted the right to access or delete the personal information that we have collected about them, to opt-out of the sale of their personal information by us to a third party, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
