Accessibility Statement for Volvo Cars App

Volvo Cars is dedicated to making Volvo Cars iOS and Android Apps accessible in accordance with the Act on the Accessibility (Directive (EU) 2019/882) of Certain Products and Services.

This statement concerns Volvo App iOS and Android version 5.58 published on 01.07.2025

Status

The iOS and Android Apps are partially compliant with the Act on the Accessibility of Certain Products and Services due to the non-compliances described below. All issues are being handled and will be solved as soon as possible.

Non-Accessible Content

HTML

The reading order of the content is logical

The reading order of the content is not logical on some screens and does not reflect the visual order.

Navigation and Links

The interface can be controlled by keyboard on both desktop and mobile

When navigating with an external keyboard, the interface works well in most places, except in the chat. When focus is on the input field one cannot move out of the field. This means it is not possible to send a message. The only available action is to return to the previous view.

Focus is clearly displayed when users navigate with the keyboard

When users navigate with the keyboard it must be visually clear where the focus is. On some screens certain elements are not being visually highlighted when they receive keyboard focus.

Features can be used without dragging motions

There are functions where the user must be able to perform a dragging gesture. In some parts on iOS, the user needs to hold down a finger and drag left or right to adjust the setting.

The target of links is clearly stated in context

There are several clickable elements that takes the user out of the App to a web browser or web view but are not presented as links.

Non-text Content

Text Alternatives (Alt Text)

Some charts and graphs don’t have a text alternative that serves the equivalent purpose.

Purposeful Descriptions

Some graphs don’t have a complementary text alternative that convey the main message of the graph to be equally informative as viewing the graph itself.

Colors & Presentation

Visual indication of clickable objects and adjacent colors have a contrast of, at least, 3.0:1

There are form objects and other clickable elements that do not meet the required contrast ratio of 3.0:1. This mainly applies to the frames around certain input fields and switch buttons, where the contrast with the background color is too low.

Understandability is not dependent on the user’s ability to perceive color

In some areas the only indicator that something is a clickable link is with a certain color and not supplemented with at least one additional way of conveying the information, such as an icon, underline or similar.

Structure & Formatting

Text that visually function as a heading is coded as a heading

Some visual headings is missing the heading markup.

The heading structure is logical and represents the hierarchy of the content

Some headings are not marked with the correct level to follow a logical hierarchy making it hard for screen readers to follow a logical order.

Paragraphs are created correctly using the p element

Some views contain text that is visually divided into smaller sections, but in the code, it is treated as one large block, making it difficult to navigate between them.

Images

Equivalent text descriptions are present for all meaningful graphical elements on the website

In some places descriptions for certain images are incorrect.

Forms

Forms are coded correctly with form elements

Some form elements are not correctly implemented and cannot be selected.
