Yes.

The range depends on various factors such as driving style and outdoor temperature, weather, wind, topography and roads. Other factors that impact range include how much electricity you use for car functions such as heating and cooling of the car. One way to improve the range is to pre-condition your car during charging so it’s already at a comfortable temperature when you start your drive.

The cost for electricity varies depending on local conditions, but the cost can be lower compared to petrol or diesel. The lowered fuel cost is also one of several reasons to switch to an electric car. To further lower the cost, you can pre-set your Volvo EX90 to charge during the times when the tariffs are the lowest, often at night.

You will find the fastest charging at a DC fast-charging station along the route. To charge as fast as possible, we recommend you to limit the car's charging level to 80 per cent. This helps keep your charging times short because the last 20 per cent of charging takes the longest time. So charging the battery from 10 to 80 per cent at a 250kW DC fast-charger can be down to 30 minutes.

* But if needed to reach your destination or the next charging station, you can choose to charge the battery up to 100 per cent using the settings in the car’s centre display.

* Charging times may vary and are dependent on factors such as outdoor temperature, current battery temperature, charging equipment, battery condition and car condition.

Yes. Instead of leather we have developed our own Nordico material which is composed of recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, bio-attributed materials from Swedish and Finnish forests and textiles from recycled wine corks. Nordico has a 70% lower carbon footprint than our current leather interior. By 2030, all new fully electric Volvo cars will be leather-free.

In countries where Google Maps includes charging stations, you will find public charging stations on the map or via a smartphone app.

Volvo Cars is committed to full traceability. We want our customers to feel confident that they are driving a Volvo where the battery’s raw material has been sourced responsibly. The introduction of blockchain technology significantly boosts traceability within our cobalt supply chain. Blockchain, in conjunction with inspection on mining sites, GPS tracking, entry and exit scanning, verified logistics providers, facial recognition, ID checks, and time tracking, allows material traceability from the mine to the car factory.

We work closely with our suppliers to ensure sustainability of our products and services. We are committed to the responsible sourcing of minerals and metals, and fully support the OECD Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-affected and High-risk Areas.

Sustainability performance is key for us when assessing and selecting suppliers. We monitor the performance of existing suppliers and follow up with third party audits. We also require from our battery suppliers to minimise carbon emissions during the production, including usage of renewable energy. All our suppliers must agree to the Volvo Cars' Code of Conduct for Business Partners, which includes assessment of human rights and labour laws.

Safety is in our DNA. Driven by our long-term safety vision we aim to achieve zero collisions on the roads with a new Volvo car. This choice is testament to our unwavering commitment to continuously improve safety. With lidar and an AI-driven supercomputer standard in the Volvo EX90, together with a robust set of exterior and interior sensors will make the Volvo EX90 reach the highest level of standard safety in a Volvo car. The Volvo EX90 will be the first Volvo car to be hardware-ready for bi-directional charging. Initially becoming available in selected markets, bi-directional charging has the potential to help consumers make their energy utilisation cheaper, more efficient and more sustainable.

Bi-directional charging allows for convenient repurposing of energy by connecting the battery to a house and its power system for a more balanced and sustainable energy consumption overall, but in some cases also supports the home during a power outage. In the future, the Volvo EX90 will also enable charging of other electric Volvo cars and devices such as e-bikes.

Paired with smart-charging capabilities coming to the Volvo Cars smartphone app, the Volvo EX90 will be able to shift the car’s charging when demand from the grid and prices are low – usually meaning there are more renewable sources in the energy mix – and save that stored energy to be used later.

Bi-directional charging could also allow customers to support the grid in different ways, by storing energy during times when there’s a surplus of renewable energy, or selling energy surplus back to the grid during peak usage hours when the demand is higher.

When this functionality grows to cover more car brands and markets, the sustainability of the power grid overall could increase, leading to reduction of energy waste from renewable sources at times when production outperforms demand.

Future technology and features are described and capabilities may vary. Features may not be available in all markets and will not be standard in all markets or for all models. Google, Google Play and Google Maps are trademarks of Google LLC.
The bi-directional capability will be launched in selected markets in the future and therefore not available in all markets. Other components and/or products may be needed to enable the bi-directional capability and can come at an additional cost. Contact customer care for more information.
