Volvo EX90 model year 2026 - Overview
The Volvo EX90; a true seven-seater, all-electric SUV that further raises our standards in safety and a more sustainable lifestyle. It’s a versatile, stylish family car with modern proportions, combined with cutting-edge technology in core computing, connectivity and electrification to optimise safety, efficiency and aesthetics.
The interior of our Volvo EX90 uses materials that create lasting impressions. Materials from natural, recycled and renewable sources. Materials that feel good and do good. Together with the design, it’s an expression of our company’s values and Scandinavian foundations.
The EX90 also contains Abbey Road Studios Mode, a sound technology designed to capture the essence of the iconic recording studio’s unique environment. Developed by Bowers & Wilkins together with Abbey Road Studios, this technology is inspired by the studio’s characteristic acoustic spaces and the sonic signature of the equipment used by artists and engineers to create some of the most revered albums in music history, delivering a unique listening experience inside the EX90.
Connectivity and infotainment
The Volvo EX90 comes equipped with the new Volvo Car UX. It’s designed to be a safe and enjoyable way to interact with your car’s central infotainment screen, more focused and personalised than its predecessor, which is further enhanced through Google Automotive Services.
The centrepiece of Google Automotive Services is the access to Google apps and services*, which offer hands-free help with Google Assistant, best-in-class navigation through Google Maps and a broad offer of native in-car apps via Google Play. This is elevated by Volvo Car Connect Plus, that provides unlimited mobile data (for in-car apps and vehicle communication) for 4 years.
The EX90 also includes the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, making our existing Google Android Auto-based infotainment system much faster and much more responsive. The infotainment system in these models will be more than twice as fast as older systems, with graphics generation that is up to 10 times faster.
Thanks to Volvo Car Connect, the EX90 is also capable of receiving larger software and operating system updates over the air. This enables the car to keep evolving and improving over time, rather than being at its peak when it leaves the factory.
Powertrain technology
The EX90 has the option of being powered by 3 different powertrains: Single Motor, Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance.
The Twin Motor and Twin Motor Performance variants supplying 456 and 680hp respectively, utilising one motor on the front axle and one on the rear axle. These are powered by a 106kWh battery that can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes **. These models have a certified range of up to 378 and 374 miles respectively (WLTP Combined) ***.
The Single Motor variant supplies 333hp, utilising one motor on the rear axle. This is powered by a 92kWh battery that can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes **. This model has a certified range of up to 351 miles (WLTP Combined) ***.
More details around the powertrain offer can be found in the technical specifications.
Safety and driver assistance
The EX90 is designed to understand you and its surroundings to help keep you, your loved ones and others in traffic safe. It can also get smarter and safer over time, as it learns from new data and receives updates. State-of-the art sensors such as cameras and radars are connected to the car’s high-performance core computers, where NVIDIA runs Volvo Cars’ in-house software to create a real-time, 360-degree view of the world. The sensors also contribute to improve the reliability and overall performance of our assisted driving function Pilot Assist, with steering support while changing lanes.
Inside, our special sensors and cameras, powered by our own in-house-developed algorithms, gauge eye gaze concentration. The technology allows the Volvo EX90 to understand when you’re distracted, drowsy or otherwise inattentive. It’ll alert you, first softly nudging, then more insistent. And if the unthinkable happens and you fall asleep or are taken ill while driving, the EX90 is designed to safely stop and call for help.
