Our sustainability programmeAs a human-centric car company, we are a brand for people who care about other people and the world in which we live. This is at the core of our business and of our approach to sustainability. Our commitment is about re-thinking sustainability, and goes beyond our operations and our cars, and into society. It makes us think again every time we take decisions that affect the world and the lives of people.
Building on protecting what’s important to you, we have structured Omtanke on three impact areas: our impact as a company, the impacts of our products and our role in society. We have clear commitments in each of these three areas.
Omtanke is about working to minimise the negative impacts of our business and even bringing about positive change through our activities. It involves reducing the environmental impacts from our own operations, as well as promoting the health of people working at Volvo Cars, and ensuring a diverse and inclusive working culture.FIND OUT MORE

We can all have a positive influence on the world around us. Whether it’s driving a car with low emissions or making sure you turn off the lights when leaving a room. Volvo Car’s resident oil expert Sabina Fleiss, however, decided to do a little more. Come along as Sabine guides us through a normal working day at the Volvo Cars lab.
Solving society’s riddles
At the Volvo Cars Corporate Innovation Office, reinventing the in-car experience is simply part of the everyday.
In search of a happy place
Buying a car won’t make you happy. This may seem like an odd statement for a car manufacturer to make. But it’s true. What a car gives you, however, is the opportunity to discover new places, meet new people and experience life on your terms. It’s these experiences and the memories and friends you make along the way that will bring you happiness. Our cars are simply a way of helping you find it. We took ourselves, and our trusty XC90, to Iceland, where we set off in search of happiness.
